YouTubes of the Day: Hollywood hotties sound off on Republican ticket

Since the Republican National Convention, it seems like everyone has mouthed off about John McCain and his VP running mate, Sarah Palin. We loved hearing what you Shine readers had to say, and we're also interested to hear Hollywood voice their thoughts on the candidates.

Several stars have been extremely candid, particularly Matt Damon--who knew he had such guts! Here are collection of YouTubes we found from Matt Damon, Chace Crawford of "Gossip Girl," Chuck Norris, Daddy Yankee and Pam Anderson. Do the opinions of such celebrities influence your own opinion? Watch the clips and let us know what you think.

Interesting, though I have to say, what celebrities say politically as far as candidate endorsement doesn't influence my vote.

If I did that, half of them, I wouldn't be able to watch or listen to their movies, songs, etc.

Most artists and scholars do tend to be open-mined, forward-thinking and educated. Is it any surprise that we tend to be liberal? Look up the definitions of conservative and liberal. You'll find a perfect representation of the differences in the two main parties. The difference is forward and backward thinking.

But not stereotyping. Oh, no. That's the left's bag, apparently.

I am capable of making up my mind on a candidate without celebrity endorsements. However, I completely agree with Matt Damon. The thought of a woman this inexperienced potentially being the president is terrifying to me.

I thought Chuck Norris came across like an idiot. My husband is a soldier and has been to the Middle East at least 5 times. Just because Chuck Norris has talked to soldiers doesn't make him an expert on the Iraq war. Like a freakin' celebrity has a clue what it's really like to fight over there! Give me a break! He gets the cleaned up, sterilized, everyone on their best behavior tour. He has no clue what it's really like and to assume that he does is incredibly insulting to the military. I appreciate that he's pro-military but playing a soldier in a movie doesn't make you an expert on the military.

I just thought Pamela Anderson was funny.

Even though I like to know who is going to vote for who, I don't use celebrities opinions to form my own. Mostly because they really don't know what the rest of us are going through.

I also thought Chuck Norris was a chump on Larry King. Why is he acting like Arianna is loaded and he's not? He's a moron and the fact that he thinks visiting the troops makes him one, just shows how delusional he is. Oh wait, he played one in movies. My bad.

Matt Damon was right on and while I normally think Pammy is an idiot, I could not have said it better myself.

Matt Damen's comments are refreshing to hear! Not because he is a celebrity or Hot, but because he is questioning a decision and a canidate as an American Citizen. His celebrity status is able to put him on a public stage where it will more likely be viewed by many more people who dont normally watch Political Pundints. While the fact that he is an actor or a celebrity should not impact any ones vote, it shouldnt discredit his opinion as long as he is educated in what he is talking about. Same thing for any other celebrity on this post..

Sorry I couldnt help it...from the horses mouth, definatly confirms Matt's concern of the absuritiy in this VP choice

    Sarah Palin on Russia:

PALIN: And, Charlie, you're in Alaska. We have that very narrow maritime border between the United States, and the 49th state, Alaska, and Russia. They are our next door neighbors. We need to have a good relationship with them. They're very, very important to us and they are our next door neighbor.

GIBSON: What insight into Russian actions, particularly in the last couple of weeks, does the proximity of the state give you?

PALIN: They're our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska.

GIBSON: What insight does that give you into what they're doing in Georgia?

PALIN: Well, I'm giving you that perspective of how small our world is and how important it is that we work with our allies to keep good relation with all of these countries, especially Russia. We will not repeat a Cold War. We must have good relationship with our allies, pressuring, also, helping us to remind Russia that it's in their benefit, also, a mutually beneficial relationship for us all to be getting along.

Do celeb opinions count? Who cares. They don't even relate to the common American citizen. Sure, they have a bigger stage in which to voice their opinion, but who are they kidding? They want to come across like they have had it so bad under Bush. I'm no conservative, but liberal thinking is no way to run a government. Anybody really remember Jimmy Carter? I thought so. Palin over Biden anytime. Obama has what experience? Please stop throwing these celebs out here like their opinion matters more than anyone else. That Pam Anderson has opinions that anyone would take seriously is scary.

Celebrities' comments do not influence me unless the comments sound informed and sincere.

Watch Matt Damon's comment juxtaposed against Chuck Norris'.

Damon is relaxed, his face shows the fear/concern that he is professing to have regarding the possibility that some people are about to vote for a man who would put an unheard of, inexperienced slogan-slinger into the number two spot on the Repblican ticket. I don't blame him for his concerns. I have the same ones.

Norris is rigid, nervous, tightly-wound...he is not listening to anyone, he is preparing his next sentence. He has an agenda. That is to shout down; to have the last word.

I WOULD hear what Damon has to say. I WOULDN'T purposely subject myself to Norris' rantings. I think the poor man has been spoken to in the manner he is displaying and he has adopted that forceful posture to make a point. From what I gather, his point was that he has been to Iraq. He also gets to go home whenever he wants.

To both Disgruntled and Fae, Chuck Norris did serve in the armed forces during the Korean war. This is a part of his life he discusses regularly as it is where he first took up martial arts.

As to Matt Damon's comments...Did you really listen to them? They were without a doubt the least factual comments made by anyone about the future vice president in this past two weeks. But as he said (although I know they cut it out of most of the snipets for t.v.)-"there will be others talking about the candidates in depth soon and it will my job to be more good in what I say"--Whoa, that is a genius. To your comments I'd like to paraphrase and say you're right, just because an actor plays a genius in good will hunting doesn't mean he's not an idiot in real life.

An actor's opinion is just that, an opinion, more often devoid of facts.

Wow, jefdschnitzler, so "An actor's opinion is just that, more often devoid of facts," but you're not an actor, so you probably have a clearer understanding of the situation and your opinion is more factual?

The disposition of the "future vice president," is still, factually, a mere possibility, except in the minds of people like the ones who put the present administration into office. Nice going. You must be so proud.

And just because an actor, or anyone, disagrees with you, doesn't mean he is an idiot in real life. His comments are no less valid than yours by his profession.
