Ahoy, lil' matey: Party like a pirate

I am all about throwing simple (read: inexpensive) yet creative birthday parties. But there's a little crafty place in my heart for Martha Stewart-esque kid's festitivies. Like this awesome DIY pirate party thrown by blogger Honeyflake.

Sewing was involved in the preparations. As was stamping, sawing and painting. Unless she had all the gear on hand, I'm guessing it cost more $100 to throw this shindig. Though it still looks like she did it on a reasonable budget. I also think that if you don't throw big parties all the time, sometimes breaking out and having something like this one makes it even more special for the birthday kid.

While I may not be able pull of the pirate outfit or the beanbag toss, I think I could handle the cool cake and party favors. Major cuteness.

If you're in need of some pirate inspiration, check out her posts.
