I'm a wife, mother of a five-month-old son, full-time student, and have a house, two cats and two dogs to care for. I'm exhausted, experiencing severe morning joint-pain (I'm only 25) and have a headache most of the time. I don't want to be a scrooge, but I have no time or energy for seasonal excitement.
The real question, I guess, is: How do I pretend to be in seasonal bliss when I don't even have time or energy to shave my legs or cut my nails?
I'm new to this whole mother, and home-owner thing; so I guess I am looking for some advice.

Report AbuseI've been in the same position before, and it is totally okay to be a holiday scrooge. Your son is too young to know, or care for that matter and if your husband wants the house decorated..tell him to go ahead and do it..without your help. That will solve all problems of that issue. No man really wants to hang up lights or put up a tree and decorate. Or the ones I know don't. Your first obligation is to yourself. If your stressed and ran ragged then your going to become sick and depressed. Focus more on yourself and have your husband help with the baby more to give you some alone time to shave, soak in a tub, to relax. Once you put yourself first you'll feel more like doing all the other things.
