I was never one for baby dolls when I was little, I preferred Barbie and updating her clost regularly and playing with outfit ideas. Poor Ken only had 1 outfit + the one he came with in his pink box. He was the most inactive and brain dead man I've known, yet he still managed to maintain that incredible polythylene physique. He was simply an accessory to Barbie that was second next to her incredible fashion.
Yes, i am aware of preggy Barbie, but her body would snap back to celeb perfection right after giving birth. It's true, these doll make girls aware of their bodies from a young age. But surely we aren't all just biological make-up and nothing else.
Perhaps during that time of the month one can make the exception, we all have PMS and it can affect our moods!
When kids become aware of their bodies, they are also faced with acknowledging their sexuality. This could raise questions about sex in kids way before they can properly comprehend the birds and the bees.
They will soon realize that's there is more top laying with these dolls than simply copying mum, or what's on the telly! (God forbid the telly!)
So now we have either self absorbed, will never be able to reach the perfection of pretty girl Barbie or you can play mum to the empty plastic infant doll. What options, I tell you!!
The latest toys are the Bratz. I think these are just lame. They're supposed to be teenagers, I think, but with sass and attitude. I think they're like the pre-pubescent Barbie, before you move on to the next stage of toys.
But, I don’t think they represent cool teenagers, as teenagers are just aliens who think they are too cool, but are really quite awkward.
They take the beloved Hello Kitty to a whole new level as they lack a nose. The Bratz don’t know just how much they stink, because they can’t smell it. In away, Bratz are senseless. (Excuse the pun!)
Maybe, the problem lies in the availability of toys on the market for little girls. Perhaps a pregnant Barbie with body parts, (internal organs and external), which you can take apart and put back, and who is so absolutely fabulous at the same time that she could put Carrie Bradshaw to shame!
So, in all, we would have the ideal doll, which gives an educational anatomy lesson, with perks of having the mental stimulation of a Lego block, while having girly fashion fun at the same time!!
Who says women can’t have it all!?
Hmmmmmmmmm……..
HOOORRAAAH!! Look Mum, no hands!!!
