PLEASE tell your children and teenagers how important it is to be kind to others. Don't hit, tease or taunt those who are different a lot or a little. Everybody deserves a chance to grow up safe and happy without pain or suffering with grief. Remind them of this: someday you may be the parent of a child who is taunted & bullied at school or elsewhere. If you see someone being picked on, make it a point to be their friend, don't be afraid to befriend the "underdog" be proud that you can overlook someone flaws in looks or physical or mental differences . We are all human beings with a heart and feelings and we all need to be liked and loved. The good you do will come back to you again and again. The bad things you do will too! If one person who reads this can make a change regarding bullying this was worth taking the time to share!
Why I wrote this blog in short version:
I was a kid who picked on a few others in school. I didn't really care to make friends with the underdogs either. I was told by my grandma a story of her childhood chums who teased a girl with a cleft pallet and the main girl who did this grew up to have her own child with the same birth defect!
I am the mom of 2 boys with a form of Autism called Asperger's Syndrome and they have been teased and bullied their entire school-age lives! I have cried my eye's out over the things that have been done to my son's! The dance's they didn't care to attend are too many to count, the names they were or are called because they need a little more one on one to learn. They like video games and riding bikes just like other boys in every way, they are just a little different and special in several unique ways. They have few friends and girlfriends are hard to find even though they are good looking boys, it's sad how society judge's us! Did I mention my youngest son was stabbed in his ankle around the achilles tendon 5 times by 3 teenage slugs? Did I mention just last week that same 16 yr old son was hit by a young adult at his JV football game in the forehead with a rock the size of a fist and was then tricked into showing another young adult man-boy the wound only to be sucker punched in the groin causing him to fall in pain? What did he do to deserve this you ask, answer: He went to the portapotty & came out to be struck for no reason at all, neighborhood bullies one our neighbor's son! This is just a couple examples of a tiny piece of our world.
I would like to suggest watching a touching DVD by Nick Dubin an adult who overcame all the bullying and is a great success story that relate's to my blog. Search about him on your favorite browser you won't regret it, but grab the tissues first, people with soft hearts like me will cry!

Report AbuseBullying is no joke.
You are always suppose to have an open heart with all encounters you have with people.
