Here's a simple tip to help you get through those "I'm bored" moments with your kids: make a summer tub of fun.

Make and Takes has a fantastic list of inexpensive and essential supplies to include in the tub of crafty fun, such as popsicle sticks, straws, glue, and beads.

Other things you can add? Scrap fabric, pastels, stickers, different types of paper, and buttons. (My kids have spent hours coming up with ideas and art with just a big jar of buttons.)

We keep lots of sidewalk chalk around for a sidewalk chalk art contest. I keep little gifts bagged and ready to go for the winners.
