Celebrate Week of the Young Child, April 13-19

Until a few days ago, I'd never heard of an annual celebration called Week of the Young Child. My youngest son's preschool sent home a flyer informing about their activities to commemorate the week and it sounded pretty rockin': baking cookies on day, special arts and crafts the next, a surprise visit from a magician and party of the final day. Dang, can I play?

Turns out Week of the Young Child runs from April 13-29 this year and was started by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. (And they define young child as kids ages 8 and under). You can get all the deets on their site, but the basic idea is to show kids how much they rule while raising awareness in communities about what young children need.

I love any excuse to celebrate something with my little guys. Everyday this week I'll be posting some links out to fun, easy activities you can do with your kidlings for Week of the Young Child. And if you've got a party goin' on with your kids, at home or at school, let us know what's happening.

What a great idea! Look forward to hearing some of your activities.

We already do lots with our boys that can be adapted to the 3 1/2 year age gap.
