Do your kids want you to dress up for Halloween?

My kids are finally at that age where they're asking, "Mom, what are you going to be for Halloween?" Sadly, saying "a mom" doesn't fly. My sons follow up with a lengthy list of very clever suggestions, which include: a robot, a ghost, Mary Poppins (I kind of like this idea), Fraulein Maria from "The Sound of Music," any character from "Wonder Pets," and my personal favorite, a crazy rock star lady with a wacky wig (said with a little giggle).

The bottom line? They want me to dress up for Halloween. Will I do it? Awww yeah.

I did a television segment last week on DIY Halloween costumes for kids, and I'm just going to snag one of those ideas for myself. Ahoy matey, I'm going to be a pirate! (I'll have a photo tutorial on the kid's version of that costume tomorrow...it's so easy you can make it on Halloween.)

So what about you? Do your kids want you to dress up for Halloween? Will you do it? And...what will you dress up as?

Yeah, I'll dress up! My sons are ten and my time of being a "cool" Mom (or at least one that isn't embarassing yet!) is running out. My sons love that my husband and I dress up with them. Last year we were Brett Michael's and Jess. This year we played it a little safe (and easy) we are going as Little Red Riding Hood and The Big Bad Wolf. I love dressing up with them and they get a kick out of it. As long as they are not embarassed we will keep doing it!

Well, my 4 yo Daughter is going as the Wicked Witch and my 2 yo Son is going to be her favorite flying monkey, Chistery and they wanted me to be Dorothy and my Husband to be the Tin Man. We were going to do it, but couldn't find a not sleazy Dorothy Costume.

My kids ask me to dress up every year, but I never do. Not because I'm a party pooper, but more because I have a hard enough time getting 3 costumes together at the last minute without adding the frustration of my own. I do wear halloween themed clothes (tshirt, black boots, etc) and maybe add some funky makeup (black lipstick, witchy nails, witch hat, etc).

My kids did ask one year for my husband and I to dress as Peper Pan and Tinkerbell. Either way, my husband would have gotten the raw end of the deal so it never happened.

Apparently I'm not the only one going as Sarah Palin...

I dont have kids, but when I do I will dress up!

I'm 22 years old and on Friday, I will attempt to go trick or treating!

My boyfriend is being a wolf and I'm dressing up as a nurse with a pink fleece cape I made, to keep me warm. I will have a pair of clip on wolf ears that I made. I will be there to nurse RedRidingHood's gramma back to health....so I can eat her!!

I am little red riding hood this year. I love Halloween - I always dress up. My son is 7 and he would think it was weird if I didn't wear a costume.

Uhhh... Nope. I'm going as me.

Just call me a boring party-pooper. That's my costume and I'm stickin' to it!

I love dressing up and I really don't usually go too elaborate to the point where I have to buy a costume. I just usually put together stuff that I already have in my closet and just accesorize. For tomorrow, I'm going to be a pirate and I'll borrow my son's play sword and will be wearing my costume to work! Not because we're adults/parents means we loose track of the child in us. We should nurture that side of us and just have fun!

My son is 15 so he doesn't even dress up any more. I work in a public library where we are encouraged to wear costumes but they have to be book characters. I found this out at the last minute so instead of cobbling together a lousy costume I wore what I always wear, my Old Navy $5 Halloween t-shirt. People still commented on how I was in the spirit so I think that was good enough. Besides that, I've worked in a Halloween costume and it's not fun especially when you're the one closing up and you're the only one in costume.
