Duggar family expecting 18th baby

Nothing says Happy Mother's Day than finding out you're pregnant. With baby number 18.

Michelle Duggar is pregnant with her 18th child. According to this AP story, she's been pregnant for 11 years of her life. Her oldest child is 18 and the youngest, 9 months old.

I'm a mom. I know how exciting it is to be pregnant. And obviously I wish her a healthy pregnancy.

But wow. I had two kids. Giving birth 18 times. Ouch is an understatement (even with an epidural).

Can you imagine being pregnant and giving birth 18 times?

today i saw them on the Today show and they seem like a pretty wealthy, kind family. they said they wanted more, and thats what they got. but for me, 18 is just too much to handle! nad you should have seen their hosue and car. they have to drive their own bus! and their dining table, according to Al "could fit in the President's dining room perfectly." wow!

The global population is now 3 times what is was half a century ago. If we continue to procreate at our current rate, there will be devastating shortages of vital natural resources. People need to realize they have a responsibility to slow down on having children. This is just selfish and irresponsible.

I first came to know of them when they were featured on the Discovery Home & Health channel in my country (Malaysia) last year. It was a 2006 production & they were expecting their 15th or was it 16th child then? Having grown up with two other younger siblings, the thought that immediately crossed my mind was: My God, this many kids & in this day & age too?? I didn't know people still did that anymore! What the heck are these folks thinking?? And now, I find out an 18TH is on the way? Sure, from what I've seen on the TV show, the Duggars (& other families like them) seem rich enough to support a busload of offspring, but c'mon, even this is taking it way too far! How many more are they planning on having anyway?? The Duggars said that they leave it God to decide how many children they have. Yes, God said, "Go forth & multiply", but He wants YOU to do it in a responsible way. I agree with S. that in light of today's global economic uncertainty, ever rising food & fuel prices, critical shortage of natural resources & global warming, compounding the problems even more by having larger & larger families shows an utter lack of disregard for the majority of the world's already suffering population.

From what I personally know about this family, they are ALL happy and healthy.. also, what they do and how many children they choose to have, is nobody's business, but theirs. So, how about a few of you, that are so judgmental of Jim Bob and Michelle, get off of your self righteous HIGH HORSES and mind your business.. they are not on welfare and they pay their own way. which is probably more and a few of you do now...

This is very selfish and reckless. These children have to schedule time with their own parents and are basically raising themselves.

I hate it when people take a line out of the Bible and think, "Well, that's in the Bible so I better do that ALOT!" They are being irresponsible. How can they get any peace of mind? It makes me sick to think that they are people out there that think that "whatever happens" is what God wants and it's okay. God wants you to be responsible. Also, most people think life has things you are supposed to do. Like go to school, go to college, get a job, get married, have kids, work at that job, retire, and die. Life doesn't have to go that way! And if everyone said that they wanted 20 kids that would NOT be okay. The word is so crowded already. I'm glad I won't be here 100 years from now. I am NOT having any children, because I would never want to raise them in a world that is so screwed up.
