Recently a dear friend whom I worked with in the not-so distant past informed me that she had been laid off from her job. A job that I despised as did she and all other co-workers involved. I was thinking back to that job and one of the many things that made it so miserable there can be summed up in a phrase, "Other Duties As Assigned" I've seen that phrase in every job description I've ever read. It's how employers build unattractive tasks into your list of responsibilities.
What I have learned is that every aspect of my life has this little back-up clause, and this blurb has become more a part of my everyday than I could have imagined. I am a working wife and mother, daughter, sister, aunt, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, friend and all-around super hero. Truth of the matter is that all of these titles carry with them universally understood responsibilities. As I find myself in situations I never dreamed of, I say to myself, I didn't see this in the job description. Oh but I did, Other Duties As Assigned.
So I believe this is where my blog will begin, all those things in my life I just never imagined I would do or be expected to do. My life encompasses so much and I can't see narrowing it down to just one aspect, no one thing defines me, so no one topic will define my blog. I am both excited and nervous to see how my blog is received and read the comments; good, bad and indifferent.
Fellow bloggers new and old what motivated you to begin blogging and how do you feel about it now that you've begun? Any advice for the new girl on the block...a very big block!

Report AbuseTrish,
I know I'm biased, but I personally loved the title you chose ;)
My advice is to blog about what you're passionate about! You've got a pretty big audience on Shine so just have fun with it and the rest will come naturally.
