Live from the delivery room: Kimora Lee Simmons uses Twitter while in labor

In case you haven't heard, Kimora Lee Simmons gave birth to a baby boy over the weekend. The baby daddy is actor Djimon Hounsou. The new guy in the house joins Kimora's daughters, Ming, 9, and Aoiki, 6, from her previous marriage to Russell Simmons.

Here's another interesting detail about Kimora's new baby: She used Twitter while she was in labor and also to announce his birth (see image). (No word on his name yet, but I'm sure we'll find that out via Twitter, too.)

Call me crazy, but I still can't get used to the idea of reading tweets from expectant moms while they are in the process of giving birth.

I know everyone has their own way of dealing with the stress of labor and delivery, and perhaps posting updates on Twitter is one of those ways.

Or maybe we're losing our ability to live privately and in the moment––even during something magical like childbirth––without technology glued to our fingertips?

What's your take on using Twitter, Facebook, blogs or other social media apps to post live updates about child birth?

I must admit updating my facebook status while in labor... I was early so I wanted to quickly let people know without calling a ton of people

I guess some people can't be out of the limelight even when they're spewing forth a new human being.

People are so self-absorbed these days, and everyone seems to think it's okay! What I do every day is my business, and the business of the people in my family. To all Twitter, MySpace, and Facebook addicts: get a life!!!

angel_wings17~your a hater! I'm not big on the whole twitter movement but hey man...to each their own. Both pregnancies, I walked against my contractions and meditated all thru labor so I could have the most natural experience possible. I barely made it to te hospital with both my babies and they were both almost 9 lbs.
