Mama's breakfast surprise!

The other morning I was cheerfully fixing blueberry pancakes to  "SURPRISE" my 12 yr old son and 1 1/2 yr old daughter. I have to confess I have been busy lately with work and breakfast had consisted of whatever I could throw together quickly. So when my beautiful angels sat down to breakfast and I proudly presented my creation- my son "yippied" as he dug in. Mission accomplished,  I praised my new susie-home-maker self. I was beaming ear to ear as I poured some healthy OJ.

That is until my daughter started screaming as I put the pancakes on her plate. She has just started talking and I still have a hard time understanding her but there was no mistaking "BUGS MOMMY, BUGS!!!!" Having just scrubbed my kitchen clean, I couldn't imagine what in the world she was talking about. "Sweetheart, I assure you there are NO bugs in my kitchen".  "BUGS MOMMY!!!", she continued.

Yep, you guessed it, she thought the blueberries in the pancakes were bugs! Then I remebered the ants that had frightened her on the sidewalk a few days prior. There was no convincing those yummy blueberries weren't bugs, especially when I tried to prove they were ok by tasting them. This only produced a YUKKY face at mommy.  Long story short, I now make two kinds of pancakes ( plain and blueberry) and I BEG my son to quit saying my secret ingredient in the pancakes are blueberry bugs!!!

This is truly a "Mommy Moment" I will hold dear to my heart and smile as I remember that precious morning.

    OnlyByFaith,

Young children are a consistant source of joy as well as consternation. Cherish them with all your heart because they grow up all too soon...but on the bright side there's always GRANDCHILDREN.
