Mom blogging worries Kathie Lee Gifford. She's concerned about a kid's privacy.

Yes, that Kathie Lee Gifford. The one who incessantly talked about her kids, Cody and Cassidy, every single day when she was on "Live with Regis and Kathie Lee."

Now Kathie Lee co-hosts the last hour of The Today Show. She and Hoda Kotb were interviewing blogger Heather Armstrong of Dooce for a segement on mom blogging. The topic of privacy came up and Kathie Lee mentioned how Heather shares information about and photos of her daughter, Leta.

Kathie Lee said, "I have to be honest, you seem like a lovely lady but the privacy...there's something that worries me about it. I don't know enough about computers obviously. I just know the fears I have about computers."

The segment had so much potential, especially after the way it started with a focus on the business aspect of mom blogging during a chat amongst Jill Asher of the Silicon Valley Moms Blog, Kristen Chase of Motherhood Uncensored and Mir Kamin of Woulda Coulda Shoulda

But alas, they handed a mom blogging discussion to Kathie Lee Gifford. The woman who is afraid of computers.

Don't get me started!! They take one of the biggest trends in this demographic and boil it down to Kathie Lee saying "I don't know, it doesn't sound safe". Serious? Really? I applaud Heather for keeping her composure and not beating her over the head with a couch cushion!

Kathie Lee exposed her children on a daily basis on Regis and Kathie Lee. As a celebrity, she was putting her children in danger by doing so. While blogging, you choose what you want to say and not say about your child. You child is only in danger if you allow them to be.

Kathie Lee is a crazy person, who cares what she thinks.

I know, right?! I was thinking the exact same thing... when she was asking Heather of Dooce whether she worried about over-exposing Leta, I had to think... "Pot, have you met the Kettle? It's also black" plus KLG had the added pain and anguish of being a truly public figure with paparazzi attention when her husband was unfaithful so that's a whole other level.

KLG is annoying and should be left on an island by herself.........away from the rest of us

Oh I'm with you on this one. I mean, who is she to talk about children and "privacy?" Seriously. She just once again proved "it is better to be thought a fool, than open your mouth and remove all doubt." But I guess she's been "proving" that for so long...

I too was very impressed with the way it started. It had potential! But then... hand it over to megalomaniac KLG, Heather barely got a word in... what a shame.

I am by no means a KLG fan, but it sounded to me like she was expressing regret over her own mistakes in over sharing. Face it, she has immense experience with this, and is surely qualified to express an opinion.

Kathy Lee is a moron. More people have seen pictures of her kids and heard stories about them than any mom who has a blog about her kid. Most moms I know who keep blogs keep them so their friends and family can read them and stay up to date, not to show off their babies to the world. It's the Internet age, and I just think Kathy Lee is afraid of what she doesn't understand.

But what do you think about mom blogging? Gifford may not have expressed herself very well but I know tons of people who blog daily about every little thing that their kid does and how they feel about it. Honestly, do you want your kids to know exactly how you feel about them when they're pestering you? It's all out there now and your kid is going to grow up and they're going to learn to read and probably how to use the computer more effectively than you can. I think people should be careful and use a little discretion.

I don't think anybody is arguing about discretion. However, as a SAHM (stay at home mom) it is nice to connect with other moms and feel as if you are not facing this journey alone. Collectively, we are strong. Motherhood is hard, and if connecting with other mothers and people via an online forum makes that job a bit easier than rock-on!! I'm a mommy-blogger and I'm proud to be one. I don't talk about EVERYTHING and I'm not worried in the least that my daugher or son will be embarrassed.
