Mommy's Immunity

Why is it that time after time moms stay well while the whole house gets sick? I mean, the walls can have a runny nose and mom keeps trooping along. Is there some special mommy immunity? It makes me think there must be a child birthing ceremony that takes place in the heavenlies that bolsters moms immunity.

Whoever gets sick first surely will cough on, sneeze on, or if you're just lucky enough, throw up on the next one;  you won't get to sleep through the night; and frankly, the puke stained clothes and sweat soaked linens don't get up and wash themselves. For all that she'll endure during that time, mom should not only be sick, she should be a little loco too!  So what is the stress buffering immune building trait that kicks in  when  taking care of others?

Perhaps it's love! When else does all the bitterness and resentment melt away than when your little one or the man you love lays helpless. Love also sparks your wisdom and determination to stay well to make sure everyone survives.

So the next time you're in the midst of a wild hunt for healing remedies while dodging the hebegebies on a few hours of sleep, just rememeber you got your 1st dose of  flu vaccine while giving birth!
