Let me Go deeper into this........
My son arrived home the day after Christmas. A short while before he got on the plane I received a phone call from his father. "I have good news and bad news." I hate all sentences that begin like that.
GOOD NEWS: I remembered to put the new insurance card in his bags.
BAD NEWS: you will have to use it when he gets home.
Apparently my kiddo had slammed his thumb in the door of his fathers truck on Christmas Eve, and they did not take him to have it looked at.
When I picked him up, it was black and purple and he could not bend it. We went immediately to the ER. After 2 shots of pain killer, they drilled 2 holes in the nail to relieve the pressure. It is in a splint and will be for the next 2 weeks!!
Why did I have to take him and his father did not?? I personally believe it was b/c his father did not want to pay the 75.00 co pay. I made sure that it was noted in the nurses notes that it happened while he was in Dallas and not with me. My poor kiddo had to suffer for 2 days before he got home and I took him.
Do you still think I am being petty??

Report Abuse29_ and holding,
We are kind of going thru some similar stuff with my grandkids dad. Whenever he brings them over he FORGETS the diapers for the baby, FORGETS to bring clothes to change to. Hr then asks us for money tp put in his gf's truck!! Then he calls and tells my daughter he can't pick them up, unless we give him money. The his mother calls and says we can't see the kids unless my daughter (their mother)doesn't come by.
I don't get it when kids are not given top priority!! You have the right to be mad. I know I don't appreciate people playing games with innocent lives.
You will be in my prayers. So will your sson!

Report AbuseI'm glad to hear that your son is finally home. By the sounds of it, your home is the only place he is safe or cared for! His fathers actions are 100% neglectful and should be addressed in court-you should NEVER have to send that child ANYWHERE to visit a father who has so very little concern for his welfare..

Report AbuseLeigh, thank you for your comments. I did take pics of his thumb, and I made sure that it was documented at the hospital.
Abuelita, I am sorry that you have to go through the situation that you are in. It is so frustrating that people who should love their kiddos do not put them first.

Report AbuseI doubt that he really cared. This is the same man that promises that he will be here and never shows.
They went hunting. My kiddo shot a deer. I have the pics of him holding it. He came home still smelling like it. He said he did not take a shower the whole time he was there.

Report AbuseOh my gosh 29!!! That is terrible!! I would definitely bring it to someone's attention. Even if there is a 75.00 copay, and let's say hypothetically he didn't have the money, ERs cannot refuse to see you, at least not where I live. That is pitiful. His custody(even if only at certain times of the year) should be revoked if he cannot even take his son to the hospital. You shouldn't have to worry about his well-being the whole time he is gone!

Report AbuseI agree groovy. However I do worry about him every time he is away. I do not know the real reason he did not take him that is just my assumption.
Thanks to all that have commented.

Report AbuseNo matter what the reason 29, he should've taken him to the hospital. And made him shower! Ugh!

Report AbuseThat is child abuse and grounds for a change in custody. The child had a broken bone and his father refuesd to take him to get medical treatment!!!!
I'd be steaming if I were you. I'd report him to Child Protection Services!
