Press Play: 7-year-old steals his grandmother's SUV, recounts the, er, adventure

My husband sent me this YouTube video and it's absurd and sad all at once. I can't believe I missed it when it originally aired last year.

From the kid's account of his joy ride to the grandmother's response on how she'd punish him if she knew she wouldn't get arrested, it's definitely a Press Play to watch.

This is not hysterical. This is just really saddening. I almost feel that I can see this little boy's future. And it's a grim one - for him and anyone around him. The reporter is absolutely right that the kid needs help.

Scary...If he does this at 7 years old I just can imagine what he will do when he is 15, I agree with Shellie, this is not funny, the kid doesn't even show a least bit of remorse or acknowledge what he did was wrong and could have ended up way worse, poor Grandma, sounds like she's got more than she can handle, this kid need lots of help, starting with discipline.

oooooo my god,,,, if that was my granchild i would have beat his assssss!!!!!! IT IS VERY UNEXPLAINABLE WHAT I WOULD DO TO A KID LIKE THAT. THE GRANDMOTHER BETTER GET HIM SOME SERIOUS HELP AND FAST. THE FUNNIEST PART TO ME EVEN THOUGH IT ISNT REALLY ISNT SUPPOSED TO BE FUNNY IS THE PART WHEN HE SAID HIS PUNISHMENT SHOULD BE NO VIDEO GAMES FOR TWO WEEKS. IN MY OPINION VIDEO GAMES ARE WHAT GIVE KIDS THESE CRAZY IDEAS TO STEAL CARS IN THE FIRST PLACE IT IS RIDICLOUS. I AM WILLING TO BET ANY KIND OF MONEY THAT HE HAS PLAYED GRAND THEFT AUTO VICE CITY OR SAN ANDRES OR ONE OF THEM AUTO SNATCHING GAMES. LUCKY ENOUGH NO ONE GOT HURT. OK

Perhaps hysterical was the wrong choice of word, point taken and changed. I think the boy's thoughts on how he should be punished were amusing, but in an "Are you kidding me?" kind of way. Also? The way he changed his tune in front of the police, but was showing off for the reporter.

This kid has issues. He later beat up the same grandmother for not buying him chicken wings. Sad.

i remember when this happened last year! i'm telling you, they should allow his grandmother to whoop his little ass w/out any questions asked! you know, when i was a kid it was considered ok and even expected to spank your kids for getting out of line. like stealing, telling lies, getting into fights at school, etc. and for that myself and the kids around me were better behaved. now the "system" and judgemental "competition" parents have parents who believe in spanking scared to disipline their kids. yes you can put this kid on restriction, take away his video games, make him do community service and all of that. but let me tell you, if he got on good spanking in addition to community service (i think community service is a good punishment for a child. teaches them responsibility and a sense of community and respect) he'd never do something so outlandish again! send him to my mom's for a month and i bet she'd have him straightened out like a freshly ironed shirt!

Honestly I agree with SakeJuice. Whoop that boys ass! Thats whats wrong with the kids today, not enough whoopens to much its ok lets punish the parents for what the kids do.It seems even thogh we are the adults the roles have changed and the kids are the ones in charge. We wonder what is wrong with the world today, there is no disapline. Instead of spanking or grounding our children "we" send them to therapy or feed them pills and call it A.D.D.. Oh yeah DONT DO DRUGS!I feel if things went back to the way it use to be the world would be a better place. Of course I could go on all day but I got the point out.
