Put on your to-do list: Mother-daughter matching days

The whole Obama family volunteered at the United We Serve charity event yesterday where they  helped fill 10,000 backpacks for children of military men and women. So wonderful!

Another cute thing I noticed: First lady Michelle and daughter Sasha were dressed in matching outfits. Both mom and daughter wore aqua capris, casual sneakers and yellow tops.

I can remember my mom planning a few dress alike days with me as a child and I thought it was so cool! Once we both denim skirts and white button down shirts and similar matching sandals. She took me out to lunch and to run errands with her, and everywhere we went people commented about our matching outfits. I loved it! It's such a simple activity that a mom and daughter can both really enjoy. I suppose fathers and sons could try it too.

Have you ever tried wearing matching outfits with your kid? [Huff Post]

I have a picture of me & my son when he was 2 & ironically we both had on striped t-shirts and over-alls... Didn't even realize we had been dressed alike... Now that he is 11 he hates that he was dressed like his mom... ;) I think it will be cute to do w/ my daughter!!

My mom and I used to have a jean button up shirt with velvet around the color and wrists... I used to ask "Mom are you wearing your velvet shirt today?" Just because I wanted to match her.

I have never tried that but I am new at the mommy thing and its not easy with an 8 year old step daughter finding things we can bond over so I will try it

My daughter and I dress alike all the time. We both love it! I figure I only have a few short years when that's still OK, until the 'tween age hits and she won't want anything to do with looking alike. I'm enjoying it while I still can!

Nope, too stepford cutesy for me, but more power to those of you who enjoy doing it. It is better though than couples who wear the same shirts...which should only be done if you are participating in professional square dancing events.

I think it's too cutesy if you and your child are dressed identically (especially since that would mean either the adult wearing adult-sized but childish clothing or the child wearing miniature adult-styled clothing). However, matching the way Michelle/Sasha did is cute and appropriate, I think --they matched colors and overall style, but both are wearing age-appropriate clothing.

After age 10 I was beggin my mom to go and change because we both had close colors on. Then and now it is sooooooo not a good thing to like a parent when it isn't planned by both of you/the child.
