"Tattle-telling" moms

Have you ever encountered one of "those" moms? If you have, you know who I'm speaking about.  Those mom's who feel over obligated to tattle-tell for every little thing your kids do, as if hers are perfect.  I have one of those living next door and unfortunately my kids have picked her kids to be best friends with.  Today she 'graciously' called to discuss how she approached my kids table manners (apparently, my 7 year-old propped his elbows on the table before the others had finished).  Honestly, I'm okay with her insisting on proper table manners and I won't even mention the fact that both of her boys chew like cows with their mouths open and food falling out, but it irritates me to no extent that she felt the need to call and tattle.  This is by no means the first incident; in fact I can assume that I'll get a similar call every time they are there.  Apparently, my son hitting hers with a pillow is worth a call, as is my son spilling a glass of water.

Of course, when her kids are here, I handle the situations that arise and understand that kids are just kids, but I must confess that it is hard not to repeat the behavior tit-for-tat.  I'd love nothing more to mention to her the lack of please and thank you’s coming from her kids, the mess that they always leave as they run out the door, the mean words and aggression they shower upon the other children.  However, I sit back and bite my lip and realize that her kids, just like mine, are typical and don't deserve that.  As for their mother....I installed caller I.D!
