Are there any Stay Home Mom's? I do work very flexible part time hours from home but have a 2nd grader and kindergarterner in private education. We basically live on one income (my husband is a GS-14 in the Government, in D.C. and the cost of living is killing us! As I read these blogs I feel that many of you are working outside of the home. How are you managing childcare, home responsibilities and your job responsibilities? Are you still able to make ends meet and yet feel at the end of the day you have seen your child, interacted with them and then have time left over for your husband who comes through the door around 6pm or there after. And when and who do you have dinner with? Are there any family dinner times? Do you have time for your self?

Report AbuseI know how you feel. I am technically a stay at home mom, although I do direct sales and that helps with the finances. I would be willing to talk to you any time about working from home. We do have dinner together regulary.

Report AbuseHey,
I was reading your post and you should check out Cafemom.com website. If you join (its really easy) you can get hooked up with the stay at home moms group. Its a really great group of moms all around the country who are stay at home moms and have a good forum for sharing experiences and advice and sometimes just to vent. Check it out.

Report AbuseI am a stay at home mom, but reading your questions they seem like they are geared towards working moms.
I lived just outside of DC for a year in 2002 and I cant even imagine what it is like there now. One of the most expensive places I have lived in! I miss it though. So much to do and see.
The economy is killing us right now. We got a little lucky and got a large tax refund for last year and then my DH got a bonus, which allowed us to may off most of our bills. But if we had not of gotten that, I would be working in the evenings and on the weekends.
One thing that I realize is that I am not perfect and no one, including my husband and children should expect me to be either. I give them what I can, when I can. But I do make sure I have me time because just because I became a wife and a mother, doesnt mean I left me behind.
The 1 thing I do every single day is make sure we have dinner at the same table every day. Time can change a little bit, but usually no later than 6:30 so the girls have time to play with daddy before they go to bed. I do most of my errands after dinner. I do not relish the thought of taking a 4 year old and a 15 months old grocery shopping. So I will do it a 9 pm at night just so I can go alone! LOL
I think the hardest thing I have learned is when to call it quits and retreat to replenish myself. It was a hard, but VERY important lesson. As the saying goes.... If momma aint happy.........
