Stop the Temper tantrums

Lets face it kids are kids and they will have tantrums, however, how we, as parents react to the tantrums is  what is important. My son, now 21yrs, had his first temper tantrum in the middle of the supermarket, of course, I had two choices: 1) I could have given him all the attention and give him what he wanted or 2) I could ignore him and see where that will bring me, I chose to ignore him! What i did was completely ignore him, I walked right "over" him and continued shopping as tho he wasn't even there. As I was approaching him he was very verbal and all the while "looking at me" just to see what reaction I had. Well, I gave him no attention and as I approached the area of the floor that he was "performing" in I just walked right  over him and completely ignored him, as I did this he just "stopped dead" in the middle of the tantrum, looked at me, got up and walked towards me, quietly. That was the end of the temper tantrums, never to be seen again from him. It worked for me and I do believe that children respond to our reactions. How else do they learn? The old saying still works "Children learn wha they live" true, so true!
