1.Babble Best: UPPAbaby G-Luxe - $159
Nursery school drop-off just got a little easier. Weighing just 11 pounds, the trim G-Luxe has all the right features to make it a workhorse, yet avoids becoming overcomplicated and heavy. Some may call it an "umbrella" stroller, but it's more of an everyday travel companion, in our opinion. Beyond being sturdy and smooth, it's pleasing to the eye and offers plenty of niceties to keep a tot from squalling, such as the SPF 50 canopy and reclinable seat. And we love that it props up tall when folded so it won't clutter up the hall closet.

The latest incarnation of the Buzz offers parents a chance to get up close and personal with their child: the Buzz 4 accommodates both a forward and rear-facing seat. You'll love the adjustable handle and the luxurious glide (the chunky back tires made strolling on bumpy sidewalks a dream). Plus, the Quinny looks cool. The seat cover (two sizes are included -- baby and a larger toddler size) is revolutionary. The pre-formed cushion is soft as butter, breathable, and dirt- and water-resistant. Bravo. Weighing 27 lbs and measuring 40"H x 25"W x 34"D, this isn't ideal for travel but is an excellent "sedan" for daily use.

Another contender in the high-end stroller market, Mutsy has come up with a new all-in-one model. The versatile Slider easily switches to carry a traditional stroller seat, car seat or bassinet. It's all you'll need until the tot starts kindergarten, and its sporty good looks will please the most demanding style snob. Frequent fliers take note: The smartly designed Slider folds flat as can be -- making it plane-friendly (though it is a heavy 29 pounds). And we applaud the innovative braking system, which allows parents to brake from the front or the back depending on the handle position.

4.Delta Children's Products Simmons Onyx Stroller - $149.99
Simmons (best known for baby furniture) is getting into the stroller business. Focusing on function and affordability, the Simmons Onyx stroller is a welcome player in the market. The full-featured Onyx weighs a mere 15 pounds, yet can still accommodate a car seat. Pick from a selection of bright colors such as orange, lime green, red and bright blue. On its road test, the Onyx compared well to pricier competition. There are plenty of creature comforts (it's got a very roomy storage basket), and the brake system stood out as top performer.

The new 2009 Sí Stroller by Peg Perego should win lots of fans. The Sí is meant for adventure. Though compact, the Primo Viaggio Car Seat (sold separately) fits right in the stroller. It's got a nifty one-hand fold (ideal for hopping on a train or bus), and unlike other pared-down strollers, leggy parents get adjustable handles. Now the bad news: you'll have to wait to April to get your hands on this model.
