I'm not going to change her, I know. And honestly, even in this economy, I am probably not going to stop pitching the vegetables I intended to eat but didn't get to in time or the bagels that look even remotely iffy.
Instead of just turning up my nose -- both at the mold invasion and my frugal mother -- I can laugh at us both. These funny sandwich bags might just be the way to up the humor about the fungus among all of us.
Billed as an anti-theft device for lunches, each clear plastic bag has green splotches that make your fresh sandwich look spoiled and that makers are sure will keep greedy people from stealing your lunch.
When I saw these, my first thought was how funny it would be to wrap all kinds of food at my mother's house in these and then see how much of it she'd eat anyway. But my next thought was what a kick my son would get out of them, especially since he is 4-years-old and his sense of humor has a very high gross quotient.
I am pretty sure no one is stealing his soy butter and jelly sandwiches in preschool, and I am even more sure my mom would roll her eyes (again) if I planted these bags in her kitchen. Regardless, I think they are hilarious. And who doesn't need a chuckle after smelling bad milk and cursing over wasted bagels?
