For many young people and the older too, Tommy Lee or David Beckham
for example, have embarked on the journey to color their skin in
with colorful markings and sayings. What started as a right of
passage, in my day anyways, has turned into a mass of
over-inking. What made you want to tattoo that onto your skin and
then keep going and going and going? A single rose on the wrist or
a chain around the ankle has turned into full arm, back
or body art. Yes, it is art but what happened to a canvas
painted and hung on your wall?
I ask also, who is bringing this boy or girl home to meet mom
or dear ole dad, my mother would die if I brought home Benji Madden
with all of his markings. My husband has a huge scorpion on
his back shoulder and I have a flower on my ankle but is
this the new obsession of youth? Are celebrities and their tattoo
obsessions influencing children to grow up and do the same thing?
Is this something you want to see your children embark upon
forever, inking their bodies with one tattoo after another? Many
celebrities do not want to be thought of as role models but many
are. I have to ask when is enough, enough?

Report Abusewell im in middle school. not many kids walk around with tattoos but we do have peircings... belly bottons. i know its strange. but i will admitt we do sometimes talk about getting a tattoo. i dont think any of us want something wild and crazy and BIG on us though. just somthing snall... like hearts, stars, ect.

Report AbuseHi "Apple" this is nothing new to my life, I'm 52 and my old man was full of tattoos, Why I will never know , he never would talk with his family and we were last on his list, although i do not think that his tattoos had anything to do with who he was or could have shared with his two sons. I chose no tattoos for me because of my rebelling to him. I disrespect no person for there markings and actually see tattooing as human art . P.S. I really liked your post!!!!!!!!!

Report AbuseEnough is enough when your grown intelligent son needs his 10 year old daughter for support, while he tells you that "He has a surprise for you, and it is just for him, and no one else can have it, and he can wear it, and it is something that he will always have with him, and then you guess, AND THEN YOU CRY. Twenty plus years after you would think it would be possible AND HE WAS FORBIDDEN, he finally got what he wanted. His Mom was in a coma of sorts for about a week and a half. We love each other very much, and he was told I love him just as much as I ever did, but he knows how disappointed I was. One of the toughest things for him was not to disappoint me he told me. We have gotten passed it. He wanted it, he got, he must live with it. If he regrets it, he will pay lots of money to have it removed, and be scarred in a different way the rest of his life, rather than having what he now has., or any semblance of a body without a tattoo. Some people do regret it, and he was told that if he does, I will never know it. And so it goes.... Yes, I love my son. It does something to a Mother to find out. There are worse things I know.

Report AbuseEven one tattoo is too much. I see them all the time as a military nurse and they look worse and worse, as you age. It also costs a fortune to have them removed. Think of the stupid things you did when you were younger and ask yourself if you would do them, again, if they permanently affected you. You have to think of the long-term possibilities of your actions. You probably won't get AIDS or Hepatitis if you go to a clean place....but, do you really want that ink all over your skin? The celebrities who have them wouldn't be so appealing, if they weren't famous.

metal stuck tru their lip or toungue and drooling,
p.s. my sons have tattoos,and found in the past it hindered them unless they covered them in their job

Report AbuseI do totally beleive it is a choice but my personal choice is not to ink. Believe you me I have thought about it and the piercings but think it is a trendy thing but one that is permanent. It is cool at that time but what happens when it is not cool anymore. Most of the people that I know that have tats wish they did not have them and spend time later trying to cover them up. I am soooo glad I thought for months before doing it. Now I have made many other mistakes but I did bypass this one.

Report AbuseI have a tattoo, and I plan on getting a couple more. I thought for several years about my first one and designed it myself. The next one or two I get will either be designed by me or another artist from photographs. I didn't get mine because it was trendy, I got it because it meant something to me, like my future ones will, and I'll never regret the decision. Of course, the one I have now (and future ones) will be easily concealable and won't take over my whole body. The one I have now is small and on my left shoulder. It was my decision and I'm proud of my ink.

Report AbuseI have five tat's and they do look worse with age but then you go have them redone and bam! good as new! freedom is ours to with what we want with in the laws of society. If we were all the same, how boring that would be......................
