Where do you hide from your kids?

Oh please. Like you've never snuck away from your kids to get just a few moments of peaceful silence. And when I say a few moments, I mean less than five minutes because they always find you that quickly.

I know some moms who use the bathroom as their safe haven, bringing a novel with them while they sit on the edge of the tub or on the floor.

I've known a few moms (and dads) who sneak off the the backyard to sit in a chaise lounge and quickly skim the newspaper.

As for me? The garage. As I posted in my bio, I fold laundry in the garage. And it's never when the kids are pitching a fit or arguing. It's when they're playing nicely and I feel like I can just chill for a minute. Or two. As much as I despise doing laundry, folding clothes fresh out of the dryer has somewhat of a Zen vibe. And my little dudes...they always manage to need me within a few minutes.

So 'fess up and don't feel a single twinge of guilt: where do you hide from your kids?

My sister told me she hides from her toddlers in her walk in closet. That way she can quietly enjoy Coldstone Creamery without sharing.

lol at the guy who plays hide and seek and don't go searching... too funny! Well I go out back and sit up against the garage wall, it's sooooooooo nice and quiet back there plus it's pretty. When I hear them looking for me, I wait a bit and go in when i'm ready.

I hide in the bathroom. It's the only place where my kids know to either knock or not come inside until someone has told you to do so.

I wish I could hide from my kids,if I go the bathroom and close the door less than 2 minutes later there is banging at the door. I'd hide in my closet if it was big enough.I tend to hide in my daydreams.... a desert island where its peaceful and all I hear is the waves crashing. A girl can dream...

I used to lie on my bed and tell the kids, "Mommy has lost her patience. Please go and find it." Then the kids would scamper through the house looking for it. It was hilarious what they brought back to me thinking that the item was "Mommy's patience." I was usually in a pretty good mood after they looked.

I hide in my garden, its quiet and very. hiddnen. The kids know that when mommy is in the garden they can come sit by her or quietly or read a book to themselves near-by but that is about it any major malunction is to be handled by daddy, and daddy knows this all to well :) But during the day when he is gone I hide in the bathroom, for a few brief moments of quiet and alone-ness.

I don't hide from my kids I put them down for a nap or call Grandma to come get them...because when I lose my patience it usualy stays lost for more than five minutes. My oldes son whos 4 knows when i sit down on the edge of the bed and put my head in my hands means it is nap time.He turns on cartoons and gets on his bunkbed. Now my 1 year old is a little different i have to rock her to sleep. And my middle son whos 2 doesn't take naps so i send him to grandmas if he doesn't want to lay down and watch tv..

Well I guess I'm lucky because when my daughter is in the bath every night I just go in my room (right next to the bathroom so I can hear her) and I do something for myself. Sometimes I paint my nails and sometimes I just lay there for some peace and quiet. My daughter loves the bath and will play in there for over an hour. Of course I work 10 hour days and need a break from all of it, not just the constant 4 year old curious chatter!
