Baby whoopie cushion costume

It would almost be funny if parents already didn't spend so much time talking about their baby's bodily functions. Poor kid.

As Halloween approaches, we know kids want to dress up as characters from "Star Wars" or Disney movies. Pirates are still high on the list for boys. And girls are always fond of being princesses, butterflies and fairies. At Shine, we've been talking about what our kids are going to be for Halloween this year, how much we've been spending on costumes, and how we can made costumes on a tight budget.

Now it's time to talk about the costumes that kids should avoid this Halloween.

Our picks as the absolute worst Halloween costumes (and accessories) for children?

Okay I have to admit....I love the Zombie Skater Boy costume!

If I had a son, I would definitely try to get him to wear that.

One time my mom waited way too late to get me a costume. I was dressed in an old and too little night gown, hair in a bun and glasses. She paraded me around the 'hood as a Granny. Boo. (As in "this sucks" and not as in "scary").

heath ledger really has nothing to do with the costume Charlene. That's pretty uncalled for, i don't completey agree on the costume either because that movie has alot of violence for kids but to throw it on Heath is wrong and not needed!

MandyMoo -- Well, the costume is based on Heath Ledger's character in the movie. I changed it to "portrayed by"...which is accurate. And I do think his version of The Joker was scarier than the Cesar Romero.

I believe that homicidal maniac costume line came from the movie Adam's Family, either one or two, didn't it?

I try to make my kids be something scary-ish, or at least somewhat related to the original purpose of the holiday (celebrating the dead).Luckily my kids are like-minded and have willingly stuck to tradition. If they want to be something "trendy", they usually end up turning into a darker version of the character. (One year Kid2 was a zombie cheerleader. So cute with her 12inch long ponytails teased to oblivion with leaves stuck in them and black lipstick and eyes!)

I can't imagine why any parent would approve of the hooker-looking girls' costumes or the boys' costumes that originate from movies that aren't even rated for children's eyes.

Okay I must speak out here. I agree with you optivia...some folks should lighten up a bit. It's Halloween, costumes are supposed to be a little ridiculous and scary....not all kids want to be something "cute". Dressing up is supposed to be fun. As for the cheerleader costume photo...that is the costume my daughter chose this year...and it is not revealing or innapropriate. While costume shopping we saw costumes like mermaids and the Princess Jasmine (others as well) whose entire stomachs were hanging out(which is something I won't allow my almost 8 year old to do). The cheerleader costume is a girl fully clothed wearing white tights and arm bands...I don't see an issue here.
