You'll never ruin your kid's baseball cap again

I have been know to cause great angst in our household by doing one simple thing: tossing a baseball cap in the laundry and thereby ruining it forever. I assure you that my husband and my oldest son are both cringing as they remember the loss of these beloved caps with their perfectly-shaped brims at the hands of the well-intention gal/mom of the house. (I don't even tell them about the one(s) that the dog may have accidentally chewed to smithereens. Why cause further pain?)

But I've been saved. And any parents out there who've accidentally ruined a favorite baseball cap...this one's for you, too.

Daily Danny just posted a new trick to safely wash baseball caps. It's so simple that it's brilliant, really.
You just run them through the regular cycle in the dishwasher sans detergent. You can let it air dry or toss it in the dryer on a low setting.

Daily Danny, I thank you. And my boys in the crazedparent house thank you.

Dear Charlene at Shine. I can't imagine that this would work.

I've dont this for years too. Works very well. Even helps shrink the cap a little after months of squeezing it on my big old melon. Takes sweat marks out and everything! Works like a charm.

WOW! Thanks sooooo much!! I have three sons and they're in their tween and teenage years, and must have about 20 caps amongst them all.. not to mention my hubby's and my caps too. This is an AWESOME idea and I so appreciate it. They've been getting them really dirty lately, and in the past I have tried to use those throw away baby-type wipes but it just leaves a mess or throw em in the washer and dryer, as you know, it totally shrinks em and ruins em. SO, this is a wonderful tip! Thanks again, my dishwasher will be running a lot more now for sure.. lol! (-:P

Why don't you just buy one of the little cages that are made for putting the caps in the washer? You can get them from catalogs like Carol Wright or Harriet Carter.
