8 Best Places to Travel Single

By Laura Jane

If you're traveling solo, it's probably not a good idea to venture out into the most remote corners of the world. However, this is not to say that as a single, you can't still have the most fabulous, adventurous vacations. There are numerous travel options, including group tours, for people interested in traveling alone.

Las Vegas
While Vegas is known for impromptu (and sometimes regrettable) weddings led by Elvis impersonators, it's the eligible tourists that can have the most fun here. Mingle with other singles in vibrant night clubs, and paint the notably neon town red with your jackpot winnings! Specifically, Firefly and Voodoo Lounge are top nighttime hangout spots on the singles scene. Also, the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino is sure to be a hit - since you could very well pass all your time here, hanging out by the pool or unwinding at the spa. To kick things up to a more scandalous pitch, try the singles-filled Mandalay Bay Hotel.

New York City
If you're a bachelorette, you'll have lots of competition in NYC, which is home to significantly more single women than men. Solo guys, on the other hand, have plenty of pretty ladies to look at 24/7, and plenty of places to enjoy their company, too -- there are thousands upon thousands of theaters, pubs, clubs, and restaurants to keep one occupied. When you get bored, hit up a singles meet up or sign up for a singles-friendly day trip.

Miami
Why not strut your single self down South Beach? A mixture of beach babes, hunky surfers, glamorous globe trotting celebs, and average Joes make up Miami. Whether you're shopping for couture or looking for culture, America's main melting pot is always worth a visit. Keep yourself informed about all that's going on in the bustling metropolis and feel free to hop on a tour of the city.

Buenos Aires, Argentina
Beautiful people, beautiful surroundings...what more could you ask for on vacation? Whether it's an electric dance club or happening plaza, you'll bump into all kinds of interesting, and many times "available," tourists and locals. Favorite hotels for singles include The Glu Hotel and the BoBo Hotel, most for their attentive staff, which no doubt comes in handy when you're on your own! For the outdoors men (and women), there are a hefty hodgepodge of adventure travel tours that you can join - and they're the safest way to explore when you're traveling solo.

Cancun
Spring break-fueled craziness aside, Cancun is actually one of Mexico's most enchanting destinations. Even if you're not into the party scene, you'll have lots to keep you busy, like snorkeling, sailing, shopping, and... doing absolutely nothing at all (on the beach or at the spa). There are many all-inclusive vacation packages geared toward singles, and in fact, the Temptation Resort and Spa and the Golden Parnassus Resort and Spa guarantee a great time.

Austin
You'll get a warm reception from friendly Austinites, who will eagerly show you about town -- your itinerary might include a night spent on the legendarily rowdy 6th Street, a dinner or two at an acclaimed Tex Mex restaurant, or a movie at the world-famous Alamo Drafthouse (alcohol's served at this unconventional cinema). Plenty of locals chill out on Town Lake and Zilker Park without company, so you'll fit in well here.

Ibiza, Spain
Searching for nightlife? Look no further than Ibiza, an island off the coast of Spain. It's home to the world's largest nightclub in the world, Privilege, and many beautiful beaches, to boot.

The Big Blue Sea
While cruises mostly cater to couples and families, there are singles-only lines out there as well; check out SinglesCruise.com for an example. Sightseeing out on the big blue sea is a great way to make new, perhaps lifelong friends! Singlescruise.com (and other sites like it) aggregate specific singles-only lines - top ships, including Carnival, all cater to the unattached, so feel free to get attached to the idea!

"What" Matters More Than "Where"
Instead of getting all caught up in trendy destinations, think about what you'd like to see and do on vacation. Are you an incurable adventure seeker, or a homebody who likes to watch movies all day? If a Colorado whitewater rafting trip sounds like a good time to you, sign up for an outdoor adventure tour that departs from a nearby city. If you're in to music and film, attend a festival that will attract like minded individuals (like Austin's South by Southwest fest).
