8 reasons why he's a lover, not a breeder
partner
We have an article in December's
Glamour magazine called "Guys'
Weird New Habits: Why? Why?" One new habit we
looked into were vasectomies for the under-30 -- it seems a small
but growing number of men are doing it. Not only did we speak with
urologists who perform them (like
Dr. Doug Stein) but also with those who undergo them,
like Jeremy Youngman, a single, childless tattoo artist
outside Chicago who got snipped at age 27. He gave us
a long and colorful list of reasons why (without skipping a beat),
which we couldn't fit in the feature, but wanted to share since
he was so fun to talk with:
- I think one of the world's biggest problems is
overpopulation and I will not contribute to it
- I love dogs and would rather have a lot of those
- I find it hard enough to make my own good decisions, let alone
instill morals and scruples in another person
- I can't make doctor / dentist / hairstylist appointments
regularly for myself, let alone someone who needs them
- I don't eat right, and wouldn't want the responsibility
of someone else's nutrition
- I like my sleep uninterrupted
- If I want to travel, not having kids means a lot less
luggage
- I like to walk around the house naked whenever I want
See
the rest of his reasons for remaining childless
here!

These are great reasons. I agree with this man.
I can't STAND!!!! Children... If my man told me he wanted a vasectomy, I take him to the wedding alter. I see no point in children, but them being a pain in the a--.

I'm 25, and don't want children now. But who knows what I am going to feel like in 10 years. From my understanding, the motivation for children comes from being so in love with your significant other, that you want to make another one just like them.
I dunno. It's a very PERMANENT choice to make at an early age.

Well roomies,
thats the thing a man can have a vasectomy reversed. Its a simple procedure, and less risky than a woman getting her tubes tied.
So his hou visit he'll be up and going.
But with a woman, youll be on bed rest for a while.

Vasectomies are quite reversible. As are IUD's. If women were serious about not having children, they'd get IUD's instead of take a pill every month. The pill and its kin are too unreliable. There are new methods of long-term birth control out there, even Norplant2 for the younger set. You can bet if and when my daughter wants to become sexually active, I'll drop the $$ for something that's 99.9% effective for years AND give her a lifetime supply of condoms (and teach her how to use them).
Having a child is something that should take a lot of thought, not be an afterthought or accident. I applaud any guy that goes to such lengths to prevent something so life-changing from happening when he really doesn't want it. These guys are serious about not having kids, and it's sexy. Now, if they're also serious about preventing the spread of STD's and use condoms, that's doubly hot!
These guys are putting their money where their mouth is, so to speak, rather than letting accidents happen and abandoning someone because in reality they were too irresponsible to prevent it from happening in the first place. Not to mention, if he ever changes his mind, the procedure can be undone more easily than a tubal ligation.

Good for him for choosing to ensure that he does not have a child that he does not want! If more people were pro-active instead of reactive, overpopulation would not be such a problem.

None 5,
YES!!! When I ask someone why they want kids they say:
"To continue my legacy"
or... "So they can take care of me when I'm older"
SIKE!!! I ain't getting suckered in by that selfish. Children are stupid.
O and what about the one's who say,"
O, you were a child once?" WTF!

HEHEHE...
Goldengirl, thats funny because I work at a highschool...
Sick twist of Karma.
But really Goldengirl, I don't understand it. Why would you want a kid harassing you all the time. And lets not even imagine a teenager. Kids cost money and time. Two things I have next to none of.
And no I don't suck.. Children suck. Waste of uteran space.

Catwoman,
You are a disgrace. Children are a blessing! When your ass is old and crippled, you'd wish you had some children to take care of your ignorant ass. Fortunately, you'll be in some nursing home where some nurse is mistreating you and purposely forgetting to feed you and change your Depends.
I have 2 beautiful children and they have made me the strong, remarkable woman that I am today.

I have two great kids that keep me going everyday. I had my first at 17 and second at 20. People act like they are the end of the world and you can't do anything when you have them. Granted, when I had my first I was scared $h!tl3$$ but I managed to do alright. I spent four years in the Marine Corps, got my Bachelors Degree in Business Management, and have a pretty rewarding career. I am not trying to sell you on having them or not. It is totally your choice and I respect it, which ever you chose. Saying kids are stupid is an ignorant statement to make. First, we were all kids at one point. Any grown adult who says kids suck should be put down. They are probably racist, hate men or women, think the world owes them something, and can't handle a relationship to have any themselves. Therefore they make up an excuse not to have them, rather then just admitting they suck at life.
