A Doggie Dilemma
user
My favorite advice
columnist,
MissTruth Hurts, deals with a doggie dilemma in her column
today:
Q: I've had my dog Sweetie
for three years. I've had my boyfriend for six months. I love
my dog. I love my BF. My BF doesn't love my dog. And my dog
positively loathes my BF. We were in bed the other night and
Sweetie bit him in the ass at the most inopportune moment. BF says,
"Sweetie goes or I go." I'm leaning towards keeping
Sweetie but my friends say I'm nuts. The BF is gorgeous,
talented, brave, sober, well-off, and worships the ground I walk
on. Sweetie? He's truly been my best friend. What would you
do?

A: Dogs over dudes my friend.
Dogs are more loyal, loving, and faithful, and generously lavish
their owners with affection. They come when they're called,
they like to spoon and cuddle, and they always stay the night. And,
let's not forget dogs are a good judge of character. If your
dog is not digging your dude, then maybe he's onto something. I
would trust your companion's instincts on this one instead of
your hormones. And, besides, if the guy really loved you, he
wouldn't ask you to make this heart-breaking choice. What kind
of guy makes his girl get rid of something she loves? Especially a
little pooch?! A good guy and a true animal lover would never put
you in this position, and his ultimatum shows what kind of person
he really is. Put your beau up for adoption and tell your
girlfriends to stop thinking so desperately.

can't believe i'm the first to say this! ditch the dog! send him to live with a close relative or something. do you really wanna give up what could possibly be the love of your life for a canine?

This is really crazy. I am a huge animal lover (own nine cats and two dogs which I love dearly) but I would NEVER choose them over a human! I do agree that the boyfriend shouldn't have asked you to get rid of the dog esp. if he knows how attached you are, but if it were my dog and it bit my boyfriend in the butt, I would be the one getting rid of it! No excuse for that at all--sounds like the dog should be disciplined or locked out of the room when you two are "together." Perhaps the boyfriend didn't grow up around animals and just isn't sure how to "make friends" with Sweetie. Why don't you try starting there? If you are actually considering giving up a wonderful relationship for a pet, then obviously you don't care much about being with a good man.

When I met my husband, my jack russel Penny liked him. I was with a guy 3years that she never really warmed up to. I trust Penny! I found out 2 years after we broke up that he cheated on me! And now I am happily married to a man who loves miss Penny and she LOVES him. DOGS KNOW!!!!! BTW we now have 2 more dogs and are silly happy about it!

Definitely dog before boyfriend! Your dog will probably be there longer than your boyfriend. If you give him up and then break up with your boyfriend how horrible would you feel. I think it's horrible that he is making you make this decision. That's just not right. That dog is, I am sure, like family. How would you react if he told you to forget about your family and never talk to them again. Definitely not kosher!Dump the dude!

I say keep the pup! Once I dated a guy for 3 years and my dog didn’t care for him either. I though Phoebe (the dog) was jealous and wanted all my attention. She peed on my boyfriend and sneezed in his face. Well the relationship didn’t work out and I realize Phoebe wasn’t just jealous she knew he was a jerk. She loves people and this is the only time she has ever done anything like that.
