I’ve learned a lot of really wonderful things since I started working at OneWed.
I’ve learned great tips for entertaining on a budget. I’ve learned that there are a lot of really romantic people out there who love weddings, and love helping people in love.
I’ve also learned a lot of very detailed things, like the difference between a place card and an escort card!
But perhaps the strangest thing I’ve learned is that there are women out there who not only don’t mind the “bridezilla” phrase, they embrace it. I’ve always found the word offensive. I’ve always thought that it was an all-purpose insult for women who have strong opinions and want things to be right.
I’ve gotten too many sad letters from women who are afraid to ask for very reasonable things because they don’t want to be called a “bridezilla.” While there are definitely people who get out of control about their weddings, using that term, and using it frequently just makes it harder for reasonable women to have and express an opinion.
I’d always assumed that when they were casting for the TV show “Bridezilla” they attracted brides by pretending it was a different reality show, but no! Apparently, there are women out there who not only aren’t bothered by the phrase, they want to be called a Bridezilla! Women audition for the show knowing that it will portray them as unreasonable monsters.
So, what about you? Do you think the term is fair? Would you mind being called Bridezilla?
