Cravings...of THIS sort?

user

I was reading a scripture the other day...for those of us who actually read the Bible for themselves or actually live by it...and I came across a very deep thought pertaining the female make-up.

3:16: "To the woman he said: “I shall greatly increase the pain of your pregnancy; in birth pangs you will bring forth children, and your craving will be for your husband, and he will dominate you.”

This is in Genesis right after the Devil was smitten with his curse for fooling Eve into eating from the tree of knowledge of good and bad.  So my question is, how arguable is this passage?

Women seem to never do without a male figure totally in their lives and even for lesbians who claim to hate men so much, they use dildos that replicate the male reproduction organ to pleasure themselves or their mate.  Is this not, in a sense, male domination?  If men had no bearing on women, why are men the first thing they are talking about whether it's a good OR bad thing?  If men died off suddenly, who would continue to push the human race?

Ladies chime in.  Do YOU feel that in some way, even if small, a man dominates you? And I don't mean in a bad way...but say what you'd like.  I'm all ears.

I think men definitely have a bearing on women, and women on men. I mean if each didn't crave the other then what point would there be? Each has to be here for the other to survive, so I think we dominate each other in different ways. I don't think this sort of dominance is a bad thing at all. It's in a really good way actually...haha.

"Your craving will be for your husband, and he will dominate you." (Genesis 3:16) Critics point to this as a judgment of Eve by God and as divine approval of woman’s subjection by man. However, rather than a declaration of God’s purpose, this is an accurate statement of the sad consequences of sin and rejection of God’s sovereignty. Abuse of women is the direct result of mankind’s fallen nature, not God’s will. Wives in many cultures have indeed been dominated by their husbands, often in very harsh ways. But this was not God’s purpose.

Both Adam and Eve were made in God’s image. Moreover, they received the same mandate from God to become fruitful, fill the earth, and subdue it. They were to work together as a team. (Genesis 1:27, 28) Clearly, at that point neither was cruelly dominating the other. Genesis 1:31 says: "God saw everything he had made and, look! it was very good."

A woman is meant to be humble and submissive yet strong and supportive. I agree with the word and follow it. But sometimes is hard to be submissive when one has an overly controlling mate. This submission and humble attitude can become a circle of control, which is abuse as some degree or another. I know, I survive 11 years of domestic violence with a born again man. We met at our baptism ceremony. Soon after he was referred to me as a client by out pastor; I was vocational counselor at the time. Soon after we married and after we had our first child and the physical abuse started. I endured the verbal and physical abuse for the first ten years. It is a very long story. Yes, I agree a woman it to be submissive to her husband but a woman must never forget there is a thin line between submission and enabling an controlling mate..

To think that a lesbian needs a vibrator to be like a live penis is like saying that a straight man needs a vagina because straight men are like gay men needing a hole to stick it in. Does that mean then that men need a hole for sex because they are being dominated by women? Your logic is really faulty, I recommend you think before you write.

And to say that abuse of women is justified because women are smaller is to say that abuse of children is justified by all adults because kids are smaller.

FYI - lesbians get along without men just fine but some straight men are terrified by the thought that a woman can live so well and happily without a man. Get over it and grow up.

The Bible was written to subdue women, it is one of the most woman-hating tools out there. The reason women suffer in childbirth is because of our large brains. The Bible was not prophesy, it was written by mere mortals with prejudices like today. It was also written by a primitive culture that believed the earth was flat at the time, so holds little credibility as far as I am concerned. It has been used over and over not just to keep women down, but has caused many deadly conflicts and to this day is used to promote hate and oppression like what you are trying to do by quoting its nonsense. Sorry, we have a brain, you cannot use your stupid Bible to keep people down.
