We've all been there at some point in our life, walking down the street minding our own business when BAM! out of no where a lewd remark flies through the air right at you. It comes in all shapes and forms, from the construction worker on the street, to the college boy in the bar....the infamous catcall. Some women see it as demeaning, where others find it a bit empowering. A new article on CNN.com inspired by Holly Kearl's thesis on street harassment discusses both opinions, now I'd like to hear from the women on Shine.
How did a catcall experience make you feel?
Also I want to know why it's ok for "good looking" guys to do it but not for "unattractive" guys, I use quotations on those words because everyone's taste is different. Do you think that sends bad mixed messages to guys, and may even discourgage them when it comes to asking women out? And I'm talking mainly about the verbal aspect, not including the guys who fondle themselves in front of you also because we all know that is just plain creepy and wrong no matter who does it.
I'd also like to hear from the guys on Shine. How do you feel about women doing the catcalling at men?
