How to Find Love After 40

Who says spring chickens make the most beautiful brides? These gorgeous celebs have proven that true love finds us in all phases in life, into our 40s and beyond.

Dating:

Gigi Levangie Grazer: After her 17-year marriage ended, the author of Queen Takes King found herself back in the dating pool. She divulged to Bazaar why dating these days is a bit like politics - in order to succeed, you've got to play by the (unwritten) rules.

  • "I learned to play games the way boys do. When I was hurt, I learned not to call, text, instant message, or e-mail. Instead, I waited like a 'snake in the grass.'"
  • "I became a zen master of the koan 'He who cares least wins.' One night, I sat next to a 19-year-old boy at an elegant Hollywood dinner party. We compared dating notes. He was jealous that I had the best excuse of all for avoiding emotional involvement: "I'm still married." He wished he could use that line."
Find out how her dating candidates fared when election time rolled around.

Marriage:

Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher: Perhaps the best-known May-December pairing in recent Hollywood history, Demi was 43 when she married Ashton, 16 years her junior. While she was steaming up the big screen in Ghost, Ashton was still in grade school...Go, Demi! Read more about their home life.

Sandra Bullock and Jesse James: Sandra, who married husband Jesse at 41, says she's had to learn some lessons in chivalry from her man. "I'm not allowed to open car doors anymore," she told Bazaar recently.

Marcia Cross and Tom Mahoney: First came love, then came marriage (when Cross was 44), then came a double-decker baby carriage: Twins! Who says you can't have it all in your 40s?

Mariska Hargitay and Peter Hermann: Mariska, Emmy award-winner and daughter of legendary beauty Jayne Mansfield was 40 when she married Peter Hermann.

Uh, not to sound harsh but, It's pretty easy for a celeb to look good at any age. I don't think that anyone should base their life on the circumstances of a celebrity.

disappointed with this stupid article. Had nothing of value as to how to find love after 40. I'm not a celebrity nor do I care what they do. How about some real advice for us over 40? Waste of time logging on to this insipid site.

AS A MAN, AFTER 40, AND LOOKING FOR A MATE IS NOT MUCH OF PROBLEM, BUT FOR A WOMAN, AFTER 40, IT IS QUITE A DIFFICULT AND VERY COMPLICATED THING. A MAN AFTER 40 IS GENERALLY ALREADY ATTACHED. IT IS ALMOST LIKE LOOKING FOR A NEEDLE IN A STOCK HAY.

Never did I think I'd have to get back out into the dating pool again! There have been some awesome dates I've been on and some No way will I ever see that guy again as long as I live! LOL

Dating in my 40's is a little different than in my 20's. Since my mid 20's, I've been married. My last marriage ended in 2002, so what's a girl to do? Get her butt out there and start looking for a "new" partner. Well, today, I don't really look at it like that anymore. Is there really a "right" man out there for me? For the last 7 years, the answer is a big fat NO! I'm not saying I haven't had a lot of fun for the last 7 years, but not one man has filled those shoes. One came close for 4 years, but that too ended, because we couldn't work it out together. No, we didn't live together, but we had talked of it. After some time off grieving the breakup I got my butt back out there.

So.......I'm out there dating once again. I can tell that it gets old fast~ Don't get me wrong, it can be entertaining! I think it's easy to find and attract the opposite sex. Maybe it's my outstanding personality?????? LOL

    I have no idea......

The key though......am I ready to settle down with another? Am I ready to live with the opposite sex again? I'm tiring quickly with the expectations of others when it comes to dating. I'm starting to believe that there isn't just one person that's right for me. Sure, I'll keep dating with hopes of finding that right combination I crave for. My criteria:

I want a companion that enjoys doing anything in life with me. So...we must have some things in common. (Sports, arts, outdoor activities). I also must have that animal attraction to you. This is just a minimum of what I'm looking for.

    Where are you?

    LOL

I am not 40 or even close but what sttracted me to this article was the title and the fact that my mother just turned 44 on the 14th and she has been single for almosy 8 years. It is hard not having a father figure and such and I know it is even harder for my brother. And the hardest thing about seeing her single is that i am single and haven't found any one to love me the way I want but then again I am only 17. So i guess that there is plenty of time. If you want to talk I am available. k_bb_percy@yahoo.com
