Is love a feeling, an action or choice?

Love is definitely a feeling. Love is also considered an emotion which is a feeling. Whether it is a love for a child, parent, sibling or that special someone. The definition itself for love is a passionate or strong affection for someone or something. It is also a noun, not a verb.

To express your love would be considered an action. Think about the ways you express your love for someone. These expressions would be considered actions. A hug, kiss, being intimate and all the things you will do for that person are expressions or actions of love for them. These actions will usually tell a person that you love them.

If you think that love is a choice, have you ever asked yourself, "should I love this person"? Either you do or you don't. You may ask yourself "do I love him or her"? Even in a case of love at first sight, it is not a choice. It is a strong feeling for that person. Maybe a very strong attraction, but that attraction is a feeling or desire for that person. The only choice here is do you follow your feelings?

Emotions or feelings can be strong and very hard to control. The definition of an emotion is a feeling such as love, fear or hate. When it comes to love, it may not be immediate but the closer you get to that person, the deeper your love may grow. Our love for a person can let us forgive or do just about anything for them.

To prove that love is an emotion is to pay attention to our actions when we are around them or without them. When the person you love is not around you will miss them. Missing them may cause you to worry or cry. Love can cause us to be more sensitive. Whatever that person may say or do will effect you more because you care so much for them. Love can hurt very much or make you feel like you are on top of the world.

Without a doubt, love is a feeling and very hard to control. Just like with any other emotion such as fear or hate. Our feelings are very hard to overcome. It takes time to get over it. Sometimes our feelings are so strong that we let them control us. Which can lead to physical and emotional problems if not dealt with.

Love can be one of these out of control feelings. It can lead to obsession, depression, jealousy and maybe hate. They say there is a fine line between love and hate. Is this true? Maybe for some people.

Actually, love is a combination of chemicals released from the brain that cause feelings of euphoria and elation; really no different to eating large quantities of chocolate or exercising. But love in the sense you mean is all of the above; a feeling, a choice, an action and chemicals. Love is spouted in words, shown in affection, chosen over duty and common sense and acted upon without conscious awareness due to the chemicals.
