According to some dream experts, when a woman dreams of
getting her purse stolen, it may mean that she is afraid of being
raped and violated or fearful of not being in control of
something that needs to be nurtured and
protected. Does that mean our purses are
somehow linked to our female genitalia? Or does
it mean that they represent our innermost
feelings? For example, why do some women carry a
large, ugly contraption that holds every item of practical use and
other women carry only a billfold that holds a credit card
and an I.D?
Are we saying something about ourselves to others and we don’t realize it?
A friend of mine had one of those cute silver lunchbox purses with her at the bar, and as I sat listening to her complain about why she couldn’t meet a nice guy, I looked down at the two padlocks that kept the cute little pail closed and wondered if she really was over her divorce.
So let us ponder for a moment if our purses really do reflect the condition of our inner “Pursenalities” and if so what would it say about us:
What if you have a lot of junk at the bottom of your purse and you never clean it out?
Are you afraid of letting go of past relationships or
resentments?
What does it mean when you leave your daily purse at home and use one that fits a specific outfit?
Do you become someone else for certain
situations?
Is your purse old, beat up and falling apart?
Are you in touch with the general condition of your
own body or emotions and do you get regular
checkups?
Do you carry everything you own in your purse or only the necessities?
Are you afraid to be out of control and insecure or
are you confident and open to
opportunities?
Do you find yourself losing your purse or its
contents frequently?
Are you too easy with your love and/or
body?
Is your purse comfortable or are you so concerned with fashion that your purse is restricting and awkward?
Do you pick partners that only look good on the
outside, but don't really give you what you need?
Is your purse rigidly kept in order with everything in its place at all times?
Do you have to control every aspect of your life and
does everything have to go a certain way?
I haven’t figured out what fuzzy purses could possible mean (well maybe, landscaping issues or security blanket issues!) or those new ones that you wear as a belt, or why I can never find the perfect soft brown leather purse. But I know that when I go to buy a new purse, I will take a look at my selection and wonder what my "Pursenality" is saying about me. How about you?
