I was divorced two years ago after a tumultuous 23 year relationship. At first I really enjoyed being alone and having a peaceful place to call my own; however, being alone now is just starting to feel lonely. I don't miss the ex or anything along those lines, but, coming home to an empty house is getting old. My cat can only do so much to entertain me. :) I am dating someone now, but we live about 80 miles apart, so we only spend weekends together. That will not be changing anytime in the near future due to personal issues in his family.
Here's my question: Is it truly possible to live alone and be perfectly content, whether you are dating someone or not? I've been reading tons of articles about finding yourself, being happy with who you are, etc. etc. and that this is real key to personal happiness.
I would like to hear from women who have achieved a blissful (or somewhat peaceful) existence all by themselves. and are content to stay thay way. I would also like to hear from the other side; the women who know they are never going to be truly happy being alone and what steps they are taking to be at peace with themselves.
Thanks !
Living alone after 40. Do you really like it ? What are you doing about it if you don't?

Report AbuseRead Eat, Pray, Love by Liz Gilbert, if you haven't already...i think if you love yourself enough it is possible to live a happy life alone...but so mamy of us women don't know how to LOVE OURSELVES! To be our own best friends, and to be okay with just being ok sometimes...know what I mean?
