New Moon's Peter Facinelli: There are So Many Rumors!

What’s up with the New Moon cast? Did they take a blood oath to protect their fellow stars, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart? Cause no matter how hard we tried to get Rob’s vampire dad, Peter Facinelli, to give us the dish about the most gossiped about couple of the year, he wasn’t budging.

“Rob and Kristen get so much flak and I feel bad,” he told us. “There are so many rumors. We are a family onset and we all look out for each other.”

Peter, who is married to 90210's Jennie Garth and has three daughters, clearly feels paternal towards his younger castmates. But he did tell us about getting Rob to send a Tweet.

“I love Twitter and I did get Rob to do his one and only Tweet,” Peter, who plays Carlyle Cullen, revealed. “He won’t be opening his own account anytime soon. I was talking to Rob on-set one day and said, ‘Do me a favor and send a Tweet to my friends’ and he was like, ‘Tweets? What is that?’ For 10 agonizing minutes I tried to explain Twitter and he got tired of trying to figure it out so he finally just agreed to do it.”

On the night we talked, Peter was flying back from New York (where he shoots the series Nurse Jackie) to Vancouver to wrap his scenes for Eclipse. “I get in at 3:50am and I have to shoot at 5am. I’m not quite sure when I will sleep, but I get so energized from what I do that I don’t really get tired. Sometimes I lay down at lunch to conserve energy!”

He needs all that energy for the series’ fight scenes, which cause a lot of bruises but no major pain for Peter. “Jackson Rathbone [who plays Jasper Hale] got punched in a fight and had a mild concussion but I wasn’t involved in that. I’ve been pretty safe — knock on wood! I do come home sore, a little tender with muscle aches, but if I didn’t I wouldn’t feel like I put in a good days work on Twilight!”
