Now Perez has gotten himself back in the news with a public feud with producer/rapper will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas. "I don't need to respect you, and you're a f-- ," said Perez. "You're gay, and stop being such a f-- ot." GLAAD organization is not happy with the blogger. A spokesperson for the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation says, "These are vulgar anti-gay slurs that feed a climate of hatred and intolerance toward our community. For someone in our own community to use it to attack another person by saying that it is 'The worst possible thing that thug would ever want to hear,' is incredibly dangerous. It legitimizes use of a slur that is often linked to violence against our community. And it sends a message that it is OK to attempt to dehumanize people by exploiting anti-gay attitudes."
We have to agree. We don't believe in that "I'm ___ so I can use a ___-related slur" attitude. Why would Perez use such a negative term about being gay to offend someone if he preaches gay rights? This just furthers the distaste we have for Perez. His few beneficial contributions are always tainted by crude, nasty remarks or offensive, obnoxious and uneducated behavior. Yes, he is the "queen of all media," but we kind of wish he would just go away.
Do you think Perez causes more harm than good, or do you think in the end Perez is an outspoken blogger who inspires constructive conversation? [E!]
