"Cease and Desist, You Old Fart" by Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart
partner
- by Em and Lo, on Mon Sep 22, 2008 11:33am PDT
In case you hadn't heard,
John McCain's
campaign has been playing the Heart song "Barracuda" whenever Sarah
Palin gets on stage--apparently that was her nickname on the
basketball team in school. Unfortunately, Heart sisters Ann and
Nancy Wilson are none too pleased about this.
As
Nancy Wilson told Entertainment Weekly, "Sarah Palin's
views and values in NO WAY represent us as American women.
'Barracuda' was written in the late '70s as a scathing rant against
the soulless, corporate nature of the music business, particularly
for women...There's irony in Republican strategists' choice to make
use of it there." So they asked the McCain gang to stop...and they
didn't. So then they pledged to donate all song royalties to the
Obama campaign...and the song keeps playing for Palin.
And then this
just appeared in Seattle's The Stranger. We have no
idea
if it's real
or not, but it made our Monday either way.

John McCain has always done whatever he pleased. What is very telling is that Palin knows the recording artists are opposed to her misrepresenting the song's message... but she keeps allowing it to be played. Something more appropriate would be a recording of a mating caribou or moose. Her daughter's thug boyfriend wants to be a
" effing rap star"... maybe they could use him instead.
She and John certainly are soulmates. Indeed they are.

i don't want palin, who doesn't know what the v.p. even does, nor does she know what the bush doctrine is, anywhere near my ovaries. her whole political stance is that of an out-of-touch 74 year-old man. when she wasn't switching colleges 6 times, hunting endangered animals (e.g. wolves), making babies with bizarre names, attempting to ban classic literature in the meth-capital town she was the mayor of, or just plain lying she has continued to flop. if mccain wanted to appeal to women and snatch up the votes of hillary fans, he sure chose a poor candidate.
besides all of that, when it comes down to it on election day, think of it this way: DO YOU REALLY WANT TO SEE YOUR SONS AND DAUGHTERS (OR GRANDCHILDREN) GO TO IRAQ AND FIGHT A WAR BASED ON LIES? a vote for mccain is a vote for the same. the same blundered politics that have managed to killed masses in iraq, send our country into a spiraling financial depression, and continue to make dirty deals with big business and powerful lobbies.

Quite a few of you people are sad! Since america is the land of the free, shouldn't we help other people to enjoy the freedom we so much cherish, ( Ironicly given through the blood of our soldiers, who are giving this gift to others, since most here believe that everybody deserve's to be free?) and that John Macain and Sarah Palin are for? So think again of being selfish and believe we americans are all BARRACUDA"S!
