If you may have noticed something in your genital area that seems to be abnormal, you should not ignore it. It might be something serious than you thought. It can mean one of several things including genital wart which is a highly contagious sexually transmitted disease triggered by a bacteria called HPV. Anybody who is sexually active is at risk from infection of HPV. And the difficult part is that sometimes HPV will not show any symptoms until it is already in its advanced stages. This means that HPV has created several health disorders already including genital warts and cervical cancer and several other types of cancer.
Genital warts are characterized by flesh or brown colored bumps that can be tiny or large and clustered. The lumps are observed on the external genitalia in women, the vaginal walls and the cervix. In men, on the other hand, it is commonly observed in the tip or shaft of the penis as well as on the scrotum. It also occurs around the anus in both men and women and may also appear in the oral cavity in rare cases as a result of oral sex with a carrier of the disease.
Since the symptoms of some sexually transmitted diseases are almost similar, genital warts are often mistaken for another disease or illness. Some thought of genital warts as Hirsuties Papillaris Genitalis. This infection also shows lesions or sores in the genital area. This appears small, spherical lesions, often flesh-in color that neatly surrounds the genital area of both men and women. Yet these are harmless skin conditions, not diseases, as opposed to the venereal warts which are contagious.
Another genital disorder that is often mistaken as genital warts is the Fordyce Spots. These are common tiny, painless raised spots that occur in the inner surface of the lips and the face that can also appear on the penis or labia. But as opposite to genital warts, this does not create any health problem.
Genital warts are also mistaken as Molluscum Contagiosum. This is also a viral infection that is sexually transmitted. This often shows pearly lesions, often flesh in color, that appear on the genitals, inner thighs, buttocks and lower abdomen of adults.
Any appearance of skin disorder especially in the genital area should be immediately consulted with the doctor. If this is a simple skin disorder, then medications may be given. But if it is much serious like STD, then treatment should follow immediately after diagnosis.
The only way to know what has appeared in your genital area is to have it examined. STD testing includes physical examination for possible symptoms, laboratory testing of urine or blood samples and counseling for the relief of trauma of the patient.
Now, one may take an STD testing in a hospital or at their local
health clinic any time they needed to. There are also some STD
testing clinics cited in the different states around U.S to reach
more people. These clinics are also offering affordable STD testing
for those who are having problems with the cost of a normal
test.
