Steve McNair And 4 Other Tales Of Scorned Love

We had just finished our second helping of July Fourth cole slaw when we learned that Steve McNair, the 36-year-old Tennessee Titans quarterback, was found dead in his Nashville home. Ruled right away as a homicide, McNair was killed by four bullet wounds including two to the head. It was a grisly table-top discussion, no doubt, especially since experts think the gun-toting killer was none other than McNair's 20-year-old mistress. Police won't confirm for sure, but it's looking like the pert, pretty woman he'd toted around on vacations and successfully hid from his wife pulled the trigger. And not metaphorically speaking, either.

Hell hath no fury than that of a woman scorned, indeed. Which got us thinking: what are some other beastly acts that can be traced to a soured romance? It was scary how easy it was to come up with a quick few.

1.) John and Lorena Bobbitt: Who can forget this tale of a quarreling drunk couple, a carving knife and sausage-shaped object thrown carelessly into a field? Made from the stuff Stephen King only wishes he'd penned first, Lorena Bobbitt very famously grabbed a carving knife, chopped off half her husband's penis, hopped in a car and threw his manhood in a field right around their Manassas, Virginia home. The police valiantly searched for a severed penis, found it, and reunited John with his wang during a nine and half hour operation. Of course, Lorena claimed John abused her and of course he denied it. She was later found not guilty because the jury thought she was crazy. Sounds about right.

2.) OJ Simpson and Nicole Brown: The sad story of OJ Simpson and ex-wife Nicole Brown is another epic legend that errs on the side of crazier than fiction. As we all know, Nicole and lover/friend (?) Ronald Goldman were found dead outside Nicole's home on June 21, 1994. As we all know, Nicole's ex-husband OJ Simpson was eventually pegged as prime suspect and as we all know, Simpson got off. OJ and Nicole had a tumultuous marriage. Before divorcing OJ pleaded no contest to a domestic violence charge.

3.) Lisa Left-Eye Lopes and Andre Rison: The late TLC band member was convicted of setting her boyfriend's house on fire in 1994. Lopes claimed she just wanted to "barbecue" his shoe collection as a revenge for his infidelity, but inadvertently ended up turning his entire mansion into open flame. She was sentenced to five years probation and therapy at a halfway house.

4.) Carmen Electra and Dennis Rodman: Although wonderful to look at—who doesn't enjoy two colorful cartoon character extremes, he's a giant, she's pint-sized, etc.—Carmen Electra and Dennis Rodman's marriage lasted less than a year. Good thing too, because in 1999 Carmen and Dennis were arrested in Miami Beach on charges of domestic violence. According to Electra, Dennis was jealous of an ex-boyfriend and according to Rodman, Electra punched him. Who knows.

Yawn! Lets propagate the revenge mentality to the immature so they can internalize it, justify it and seek the affirmations for their victimhood, whichever way they were slighted. Sadly, the McNair dilemma will turn into another expose on Snapped. (A show actually dedicated to female killers)

Next, start playing "Before He Cheats" by Carrie Underwood so they can feel better about their revenge. Because everything goes as planned, right? Violating the law in order to get back at someone is...well...just as impetuous as the act of cheating itself. No?

Its like a woman saying to her man while watching Snapped...."Better not piss me off!" *rolleyes*

Now we can trivialize the behavior and make an article about it. (Oh wait. Doh!)

"Scorned love" is the romantic term we use when a woman does something terrible to a man. When the genders are reversed, it's called what it really is: "domestic violence."

Superwoman, I have to say that your statement was hilarious...all the good ones are taken, yet...he was married, presumably killed by a mistress...yet there's an overwhelming rate of divorce and infidelity (on both men and women's parts)...over half of married couples aren't happy in their marriage for one reason or another...at least that's how I hope you meant it...

Steve McNair should have been at home with his wife and kids, or he should have divorced and been single and free to date this 20 year old waitress. What a horrible tragedy that could have been avoided. Also, the 4 examples given above all involve married couples or exclusive relationships. The girl with McNair was his mistress.

He was such a cheating liar and thought he would get by with it. Now his poor wife is so distraught. She didnt have a clue about his cheating ways.

The mistress was selling her furniture getting ready to move in with him. She was very young. The young ones are too stupid to figure things out before their heart is broken. She snapped and shot him not once, not twice, but 4 times. That alone tells me she was in rage.

He was a liar and a cheat and when the girlfriend found out, she snapped. Well I guess it took some planning on her part since she bought a gun in preperation.

Oh well. Another one bites the dust. Now how is his wife going to explain this to his children?

If I were a man, I would think twice before I started an affair with a young chic, cheated on my wife and ran around. Nobody wins.

HMM interesting all I can say is that each woman stayed with the man knowing he was bad for them out of hopes that he would change, after a few years they realize oops the man wont change so they seek violence to make the change happen or to cause pain for the man. All it does is cause heartache for them!! Learn women Learn, violence IS NOT THE FREAKING ANSWER! the way to solve a BAD MAN, is to get far far away from him! MOVE ON and find a guy worth of love!! Never stay in a bad situation if it is not getting better! If you do yOU will BECOME CRAZY VIOLENT!! SNAPPED
