Takei and hubby bring their gay to the Newlywed Game
editor
Among the many blessing this
season has to offer: crisp leaves, bright skies, and Sulu laying
bets on what his partner eats for breakfast. That’s right,
George Takei, former Star Trek star, will be competing on the
Newlywed Game with his husband of one year, Brad Altman.
And probably winning. After all, the two have been together for
over 22 years, and might know a little more about each other than
the average newlyweds.
What does it mean in California,
where the early 2008 legalization of same-sex marriage gave way to
the passage of Proposition 8, which in turn led to the Supreme
Court of California’s decision to uphold Proposition 8 while not
overturning previous same-sex marriages? Most likely, very little
in terms of direct political outcome. But the action by the Game
Show Network implicitly condones gay marriage, a visible and
necessary step for Californians who support gay marriage. Even
better, it makes for good TV.

Good for them. California needs to legalize gay marriage once and for all! I feel like this is a step in the right direction.

I think they're sweet together. 22 years of commitment! Congradulations to them! Maybe if the homophobes would stop obessing about homosexual sex, they could learn some things from these two on how to make a relationship last.
