I just read an article called "The Pleasure Principle" in this Sunday's New York Times.
Anyway, the article is all about a co-ed commune of sorts in San
Francisco called One Taste Urban Retreat Center(is it just me,
or does the name of it sound really really sexually explicit?) and
focuses on all aspects of sexuality, including a practice they call
"orgasmic meditation." Which is pretty much what it
sounds like according to the article, members have orgasmic
meditation sessions where the guys in the session touch women (who
may or may not be their partners) bringing them to orgasm.
Interesting. And I have to admit, I was a little taken aback by the accompanyingphoto (of a girl with an O-face) while drinking my AM coffee. But, okay.
Basically, the founder of the center believes that women (especially) need to own their sexuality, and that sexuality is something different entirely than love and that orgasms are transcendent and can allow people to truly become free.
Anyway, that's what I got out of the reading but, whenever I read stuff like this, my big question is, why does s-e-x have to be so COMPLICATED? Also, this is super hardcore, but it also got me thinking about all the sex technique classes out there. I've never been to one have you? I've also never really read any how-to sex guide. Of course, I read Our Bodies, Ourselveswhen I found it on my mom's bookshelf when I was thirteen or so, but I've never seriously read a how-to instructional manual. Have you? Which one? Did it help?
