Study says if a guy lets you buy his undies, you may be “the one.”

The way to a man’s heart may be through his underpants. Wait, it’s not what you’re thinking.
According to a new poll by British retailer Debenhams, if a man lets you buy his underwear, he feels very stable and secure in your relationship. If, however, you find brand new drawers in his dresser drawers, he may be on the hunt for a new honey.
"Our research shows that you can tell when a man is looking for a partner by the number of new underpants they buy for themselves," Debenhams’ buyer Rob Faucherand tells Retuers.

Apparently there’s a predictable timeline to men’s underwear buying habits. They don’t begin purchasing their own undies until around age 18, leaving the dirty work (so to speak) prior to that to their mothers. Most women, on the other hand, pick out their own panties by age 13.
Between the ages 19 and 23, dudes go on a boxers buying bonanza – in the hopes that new underthings will help them attract pretty young things. Men may buy up to 31 pairs per year during this prime mating time.
Thirty-one pairs? Is this day-of-the-month underwear? Either guys are really, really into their underwear … or they really, really don’t want to do laundry. You be the judge.
According to the survey, when men hit the 23- to 33-year-old age zone, their underwear purchasing plummets. Presumably, that’s when they’ve found a partner to do their tighty-whities buying for them.
"Never bought underwear in my life," says a married guy from Nebraska. "True story. My wife buys them."
His mother must have been happy to marry him off.
One 32-year-old woman in Los Angeles tells Betty that she began buying her husband’s underwear right on cue after they got married.
“But last time I accidently bought him six pairs of size small at J.Crew,” she says. “He’s 6’3”, 220 lbs, so I got taken off that duty shortly thereafter.”
Smart lady.
Another young woman concedes she’s purchased underpants for a guy, but only because his underwear was “dreadful.”
“I think it’s cool and kinda sexy,” she says, of her undercover undie buying.
And I suppose we women have similarly naughty knickers habits. The first few months of dating a guy, we’re all about thongs and lace and other torturous confections. We convince the poor sap he’s dating a Victoria’s Secret model. But once we feel fairly secure in our relationship, it’s Hello, granny panties! In fact, I’ve found the revelation of my “gym undies” to a guy to be a reliable relationship barometer.
Faucherand warns women to monitor their men’s underwear purchases. "If he buys more than 31 pairs every year then he's either still trying desperately to impress the woman in his life -- or else she's not The One," he says.
Again, I just have to ask – 31??
Male underwear buying also corresponds with the traditional onset of a mid-life crisis, peaking one final time between the ages of 38 and 40. That’s when guys again start looking for a girl underwear that’s younger, fresher and tighter.
But, predictably, the boxers-or-briefs question becomes moot after the age of 44, when men settle down for good and hand the underwear buying to the womenfolk.
Moral of the story? Everything you really need to know about your love life you can learn in the underwear drawer.
Do you buy your guy’s undies?
