User post: Watch how a person treats your pets

Be aware of how the person treats your pets. I once dated a guy who was constantly making karate chopping motions at my male cat. It didn't take me long to figure out he wasn't a good choice for any kind of long term or permanent relationship.

My man is very sweet to my cat, and she is totally in love with him.. and he's a dog person! She's is completely infatuated with him, and we only get to see each other once a week (we live 80 miles apart). She hated my ex husband because he yelled alot and was really loud..I never thought she would EVER get close to anyone except me. She likes my sister, but still stays mostly hidden whenever anyone else is around. But she loves Rob. She comes running to him, talking away, as soon as he comes in the door and they always have special play time together before he leaves on Sunday afternoons.

Generally speaking, a person who is mean to animals will also prove to be abusive to humans. That is one of the 15 warning signs of an abusive person. For more information PLEASE call the domestic violence hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE! Or look them up on the web.

I will not date anyone that doesn't love animals as much as I do. If they don't like my cats, then they're done.

The way he treats your animals is an indication as to how he will treat your kids, and even you.

I agree pets have a sixth sense when it cimes to humans. Not that pets don't have their own personality issues ( they do) but if one doesn't really someone "Watch out!"

You are supposed to watch how they treat your pet and how your pet acts around them.I have two dogs and one dog never barks.I had a friend that didnt like dogs and the non-barking dog used to always bark at her.

That is so right, leave him alone if he is abusive to any animal.

I had an ex who my cat actually flew thru the air and attacked, turned out he was WAY bad news. It is uncanny how she knew immediatly and it took me awhile longer. I say trust the cat!
