I had a beautiful wedding in 2005 with a gorgeous dress, hand-made veil, etc. The relationship struggled from the beginning, and we were divorced in 2007. So what do I do with that stuff? What about my wedding ring? I've looked on eBay, and everyone must be as broke as me, because hardly anything is selling. Do I donate the items? Hold on to them and hope for a better economy next year?
I'd like to hear from people that have done this before. What did you do with your dress, accessories, decorations, tux, jewelry, etc.?

Report AbuseTake the dress & tux to a consignment shop. They will sell! Many brides do this because who wants to store that dress and you know you won't wear it again. My cousin bought her wedding gown there for
$ 200... it was almost identical to the gown she was looking at for $1200. As for the ring, have it reset when you get some extra money. My sister had the stones made into a choker necklace. As for other accessories, garage sale. Four girlfriends and I go in together and do this about every three years. We make a little money, get rid of our has beens, and drink wine all afternoon.

Report AbuseI have your solution to your problem. Put everything in airtight vacuum sealed packaging. No major purchases, or sales to spite nobody. Have a right reason to off load old rememberances. Then, tell your girlfriends that you need about six months to recover from the hardship of post marital screwupitis. I mean, after all, you were there, weren't you? Get your sweet self back in your heart, and re-capture the little girl that guys see in you. The pricess has left the building, and the new you has to re-create who you really are, today. Your girls can't help you to do that. You have to climb that fence by yourself. Mind you, I'm not being mean in the least, but merely trying the intelligent route with you...

Report AbuseWhat Springtime said! Take it to a used clothing store/consignment shop. They will pay you for your dress. As for the ring, take it to just about any jeweler and they will also buy it from you.

Report Abuselots of places will buy these items from you like Springtime said, consignment shop will pay you pretty well for your dress, if your ring is gold or white gold take it to a local jewler, they will buy it from you for sure. as far as the tux goes try the consigment shop or a local tailor will sometimes buy items like tux's and use the fabric. and as for all the decorations and stuff there is a website called recycleyourwedding.com and they have places where you can post your stuff for other brides to have. hope this helps :)

Report AbuseI was married for two years and then divorced. I gave my wedding dress and jewelry to one my nieces so she could use it as a Halloween costume. She was going to a party dressed as Chucky's bride. I lost my wedding ring at a nightclub so that was the end of that!

Report AbuseI donated everything - dress, veil, jewelry, bridesmaid dress, etc - to Brides Against Breast Cancer. They travel the United States selling the donated items and the proceeds go to Breast Cancer Research. You don't make money off of it, but the feeling of watching someone leave with a dress that makes them happy and knowing you may help save a life was more than worth one single penny.
You can check it out at bridesagainstbreastcancer.org.
Good luck.

Report AbuseThe site is called exboyfriendjewlery.com someone else just blogged about it. I would put the ring on there. Ebay people are super cheap! They want everything for 5 dollars, even if you spent $200 on it. So anyway do consignment for your clothing and sell the jewelery and other gifts on this site.
