What Makes You Feel Feminine? Dresses? Flowers? Running?

Nie Nie and her family before the plane crash

Last summer, my friend Stephanie ("Nie Nie") and her husband were in a near-fatal plane crash, and she suffered third-degree burns all over her body. She was in a coma for months and months, but now is home and bravely healing. But she worries about the way she looks, since her face was badly burned...

On her blog, Stephanie wrote about this struggle to keep feeling feminine after the crash: "I love beautiful things. I love to surround myself with things that radiate happiness and beauty. [My daughter] Jane came home from school one day with a large branch of cherry blossoms...Simple things like that allow me to feel special, happy, loved, and most of all...my favorite...feminine...Whatever that is to you personally, don't let it go undone. It is in you safe and warm and no one can take that away from you...no one. I am fortunate to have a husband who gets it. He thrives on it. He expects it. He deserves it. And so do we."

(By the way, Nie Nie is so brave and wonderful! Hang in there, my darling!)

What about you guys? What makes you feel feminine? Flowers? Red lipstick? Running in the evenings? Smooching? Or do you not really think about feeling feminine? Maybe it's an old-fashioned question? I'd love to hear your thoughts...

a good bra and sometimes panties make me feel feminine. Wearing dresses and skirts also. Occasionally wearing heels. (I know this one might be sexist but) Cooking baked goods like brownies and desserts.

Having my hair cooperate and look pretty makes me feel feminine. Wearing nice earrings and high heels and some sexy dress that is casually yet shows me off. Taking a walk by the woods and smell the fresh nature air and trees. And like TaraM said a good bra and panties.

A dress that shows just a hint of cleavage, with a flirty skirt that swishes when I walk. Chanel #5. My beau's hand, lightly on the small of my back, when we walk into a public place.
