I always start at the top and work my way down so that I don't have to clean anything twice. Fans collect a scary amount of dust! And light fixtures are a magnet for bugs. Cleaning your light bulbs will also brighten up the room....just make sure to remove them before cleaning!

2. Bookshelves and Furniture


Time to clean off those big pieces of furniture you've neglected in weekly cleaning. I'd recommend going one shelf at a time, so you can easily remember where everything goes. And remember to be careful with all those breakable knick knacks.
