You probably don’t look at your morning latte as a blank canvas, but barista artist Mike Breach Does. From Prince to Oprah, the coffee master can create a drawing of just about anyone’s face in a hot cup of java.
What inspired him to start his art form? “A lot of boredom,” he says. “I’ve always made art with whatever’s around me” and this time, it happened to be coffee and milk. Mike passed the time as a hotel barista by challenging himself to create intricate designs until his portraits were spot-on.
He began his training with Gene Simmons, toungue and all, and then moved on to a multitude of other celebrities. Some have come out better than others. “I tried to do Drew Barrymore once, and it never looks liker her,” he says. “I called it Brew Verymore.” Other punny names for his celebrity likenesses? “Leonardo DiCappucino” and “Ryan Guzzling.”
