Date ideas for hot summer days and nights

The weather can get pretty hot and humid where I live, so it's a must to figure out where to go and what to do to cool off when the temperatures go up. Chances are you don't want to be a sweaty and sticky mess in front of a guy you like, so the best dates involve cooling down while heating up your connection. It's even better if you can save yourself (or your date) some money in the process. So what are some of the best date ideas for hot summer days and nights?

    Have a barbecue for two

Rather than host a barbecue where you have to entertain a bunch of people, have a barbecue just for the two of you. Split the cooking duties where each of you makes a handful of mouthwatering items for the date. Some food options to consider are oven fried chicken, grilled steak with fresh mango salsa and veggie tacos. Don't forget the dessert!

Go on an air conditioned tour

When I walk down the street in NYC during the sweltering summer, it feels incredible to walk past a store when the doors open and the air conditioning hits me in the face. Go on a walk with your date and explore stores you walk past that have air conditioning blasting out of it. It's a great chance for the two of you to go shopping and find new stores you've never been to.

    Make your own sundaes

My favorite ice cream places are the ones where you make the sundae yourself instead of one of the employees making it. Find a shop in your area where the two of you can make your own sundaes, and if there aren't any, get some ingredients and make them at home instead.

Play in the sprinklers with pets

Set up a sprinkler in your yard and scamper around with your date and your pets. It's a great way for both of you to cool off during a hot summer day and have some fun with your four-legged family members.

    Spend time at the fair

Some of my favorite dates I've ever been on took place at fairs. We enjoyed food that wasn't exactly diet-friendly, played games against each other and, of course, kissed on the rides. There's nothing better than both of you being able to act like kids for a few hours.

    Do a zoo experience

Sure it's great to walk around the zoos and look at all the animals, but it's even better to get up close and personal with them. Many zoos have special adventures where you can dive in and swim with the animals (or at least feed them). Although these experiences with sharks, dolphins or various other water creatures are a bit expensive, it's worth it as an incredibly memorable date.

    Have a water gun fight

Arm yourself and your date with water guns, then get ready for a battle. It'll get your competitive spirits going and you'll show him you can be free-spirited and not be afraid to get a little dirty.

Forget about sitting on the couch in the air conditioning when the weather is too beautiful to stay indoors. Add some excitement to your summer dates! Show your guy you're not boring and you're all about keeping things interesting. Get ready for your summer to heat up.
